Hi ladies. I wanted to apologize for my absence for the past few days. In addition to recovering from the c-section, we also have had some feeding/weight issues with Brennon. He is tongue-tied and needs to have a procedure tomorrow to snip the ligament under his tongue -- it's significant enough that they feel that it will not only cause feeding problems but also future speech problems. Because of the fact that he can't get a very good latch, there was a delay in the arrival of my milk -- both his latch/sucking were not very good so he lost a significant amount of weight. We've had daily ped visits, but we are hoping (fingers crossed!) that we can start going every other day after today. I think he finally put on weight. We've had to do an aggressive feeding routine to ensure that my milk supply came in appropriately -- pump, BF, pump while Mr. Muse gives him formula. It has taken a lot out of us, hence my absence. But I think we've got a good routine down now.
*Update* -- we just got done with his weight check and he gained 2 oz in 21 hrs!!
As for me, my blood pressure is back to good numbers. I'm still on the labetalol, but we'll see how that goes. I also found out that I have a herniated belly button. Awesome. It's kind of pretty though, like a purple lily. I figure I might as well look at the bright side! (I don't know if anyone remembers, but a long time ago I posted about how I was unnaturally worried about changes to my belly button. So of course this happened, lol!) I also had that super swelling due to the pitocin and fluids during surgery. I have an awesome picture of my foot below.
Now for the fun part. Pics!
Sleeping baby peanut

Ginger ninja baby (so happy to have my little redheaded baby!)

And.... elephantitis of the foot. Believe it or not, this was actually the third worst day. There were two days when my legs/feet were actually
more swollen than this, hehehe.

For reference, my normal foot:

Hope everyone is doing well. I have another feeding that starts in about 15 minutes and then we have another ped appt, so this will be a post and run. However, I hope to have time this afternoon to start catching up! xoxo.
Re: *Update* Ginger Ninja Baby (and apologies for being MIA)
Love how positive you are and I commend on having such a great attitude despite having a not so easy pregnancy and delivery. Brennon is definitely worth it.

He is terribly adorable.
Lots of us can commiserate with you on the feed, pump, feed routine. No fun. At all. I'm glad to be past that! You'll get there!
No need to apologize for a hiatus. It happens when we birth!

For me, the most dramatic difference is in the size of my lower calves and ankles. I have such skinny calves and ankles normally, lol.

And I teared up seeing your poor foot. When you had been talking about it, I had no idea that it was that bad. I actually didn't have a clue a foot could swell that big. I'm so glad your BP is going down. I hope the swelling is gone very soon.

Baby Brennon is too cute! Hope you hear good news about his weight today, and the snipping goes well tomorrow!
Hang in there, BFing *does* get easier everyday. I was at my wits end a couple of times without the complications you're dealing with.
HE IS FREAKING ADORABLE.
My cat can read EKGs, can your human do that?

I've worked for 3 years in a hospital as a surgical PA and your foot is one of the worst cases of swelling I've seen. Hopefully that gets better really soon, too.
@ksonne -- Glad to know that I wasn't going crazy thinking that it was unusually bad! I wish I had a picture of the actual worst day. I was just so miserable about it, I couldn't even bring myself to take a picture.
Glad that everything else is starting to turn around for you though! Hopefully the tongue tie procedure will clear up the BF issues quickly so your little red head can eat, eat, eat!
I noticed she has had a bit of a rough time feeding last night and today after the procedure since her tongue is now "free". Good luck. The procedure itself was super easy and quick. I hope he is able to latch and feed normally after tomorrow!!
I'm so sorry the swelling is that bad!! I hope it continues to feel better, and those lbs keep coming off!
Sending good thoughts your way for continued growth and health of you and Brennon!
