Help, sudden decrease in supply.

Lo is 3.5 months old and I have had a sudden decrease in supply. I was able to pump a total of 3 oz per session and now I am down to barely 1 oz. Lo goes to daycare and I was barely able to pump a 4 oz bottle and now it's not even a bottle worth of milk, I am very depressed, I have spoken w a lactation specialist and they suggested fenugreek three times a day. I started that on Friday night but I feel like since the start of fenugreek or my obsession w chocolate ( happened around same time) I can barely produce anything so I am giving LO formula instead. What can I do? TIA

  • No advice, just want to say that I feel your pain. My supply seemed to drop the week before I went back to work (when LO was 4mis) and two weeks in to work, I've wiped out my entire freezer stash and will have to start supplementing.

Have you tried motherlove more milk plus? It came highly recommended, so I've been giving it a shot. I only started taking it Friday, but I seem to have a slight increase, so hopefully it will continue. I also have been pushing the letdown button on my pump multiple times per session versus just the one time that I was doing before.

  • Thanks ladies. I have actually been drinking more water as of last night and this morning I went from 1 oz in a session to almost 2 oz. I am trying to eat healthy. I had mandarin oranges, and an apple as my fruit for today. I was just pumping every 5-6 hrs last week but I have increased to every 3-4 hrs. And when I am w LO I nurse first and if he isn't satisfied I give 2-3 oz of formula. I am also taking fenugreek three times a day. Anything else I should be doing?
