C-sections

Exercising after

So with my first c-section I was terrible and didn't start exercising until like 6 months PP lol. Maybe even longer than that actually. But I had my PP appointment and my doctor cleared me for all "normal activities". I probably will still wait until 6 weeks PP but I was wondering what were the first exercises you did after having your c-section if you started within the first 2 months after having baby? I'm assuming it'd be best to avoid any sit ups or anything for a while.

Re: Exercising after

  • I started with walking, then prenatal pilates. What were you doing during and before pregnancy?

Before? Nothing lol. The beginning of pregnancy I got some prenatal workout DVD that I did for the first trimester then I got exhausted and was like nope! Yeah after high school I haven't been very active.

I'd start off with walking because they just put a trail up at a park nearby but it's been way too cold to do that. I was actually thinking about getting into pilates again later but I wasn't sure if it'd be too intense right after having a c-section or not.
  • I just started working out 2 weeks ago at 10 weeks pp and did a mommy/baby barre class. So far I've been doing that twice a week and some core stuff and haven't had any problems.
  • I would definitely wait until six weeks to start any hardcore workout. DH and I started doing Insanity at around 10 weeks pp. I didn't have any issues. We started doing T25 around seven months after my 2nd c-section. I have abdominal pain at times from it. Listen to your body.
  • I started walking a couple weeks PP (with doctors permission) and then started doing elliptical and jogging at 6 weeks. I waited til 4 months PP before doing any sort of ab workout, and that has been fine. Just feel what your body is telling you.
