Weaning and early waking

I just weaned my 13 month old.  Last week I dropped the morning nursing session and she woke up anywhere from 4am-5am and wanted to be up for the day.  I usually would nurse her a little and she would sleep til 6:30.  Any suggestions on what to do to get her to sleep til 6:30 again?  I tried a pacifier, I've gone in a patted her back and layed her back down (that gets maybe 15 more minutes and she's crying again)  Other than that, she's done great with weaning. Thanks!

Re: Weaning and early waking

  • For me, bringing my LO to bed wouldn't work----he would just want to play.

The only thing that I've heard works is letting them CIO until you want them to get up for the day, or just giving it time and letting her adjust to the switch.

  • YEa, if I bring her to bed with me, she attacks my husband and wants to play lol.  Thanks for the suggestion, but that one won't work.  I've been letting her cry and fuss until its time to get up and I go in every once and awhile and lay her back down and cover her up.  I guess it's just a phase and hopefully will work itself out.

    Good luck!
  • Ok so it's been a couple of days.  I have decided to let her fuss in her crib until 6.  So first day after all this, she work up at 5:30 so I let her go until 6 then got her up.  Today, she naturally woke at 5:40, again I let her go until 6.  She hasn't slept later than 5:30 for 2 weeks, so we're getting much better!  I'm hoping for 5:50 tomorrow.  :)
