I'd imagine it would also cut down on drug-related organized crime to some extent; draw parallels between the current environment and the role of gangsters running alcohol during prohibition.
- Legalizing prostitution? I'm on the fence here. I can see how legalization and regulation could provide a safer environment for those who choose to sell their services, and could potentially curb human trafficking. Still just doesn't sit well with me though.
- The current administration? Has promoted class warfare and discord to an unconscienable degree and has taken steps to further degrade constitutional protections beyond what the prior administration initiated. We elected a celebrity, not a leader. For the record, I think the other guys are just as bad; the two-party system needs to go.
- Obamacare (US)? While I'll admit that there are a very few components that I see as beneficial (no lifetime maximums, elimination of pre-existing conditions), I think that the ACA as a whole is a politically-motivated pile of junk that was rushed through and signed into law to make a statement rather than actually improve health care for everyone. My gut instinct is that the law was designed for failure to pave the way for a single-payer system down the road.
- Pirating movies/music? I was a huge fan of Napster way back in college; ever since that was locked down, I haven't really engaged. If I want something that badly, I'll buy it.
- Breastfeeding in public? Baby's gotta eat. If you can keep it somewhat discreet, more power to you.
- Drinking during pregnancy (low to moderate)? Mmm, pass the wine. If you've done your research and can practice self-control, I don't see any reason not to imbibe every once in a while.
- Same sex marriage? Government needs to get out of the marriage business altogether. If two consenting parties want to enter into a contractual agreement to co-habitat, share property and benefits, and establish right of survivorship, I have no problem with it. Call it whatever you want; marriage should be a social/religious determination. Bottom line--if someone intruduces another individual to me as their husband/wife, who am I to argue?
- Gun control? Should there be a strong means to ensure that guns are not easily accessible to criminals and the mentally unstable? Absolutely. Please tell me how we can accomplish this without unduly burdening law-abiding citizens and eroding their individual rights. It's my opinion that most gun control "solutions" that are commonly proposed and enacted (limited magazine capacity, banning of "scary-looking" guns) are ineffective to address the underlying issues.
- Abortion? As a moral issue, I'd have to say I'm firmly against this. However, I've never been in a situation where I needed the option, so I hesitate to harshly judge a person without knowing their individual circumstances. If a person routinely utilizes this option as a means of birth control, there's a much bigger problem than the availability of safe, legal procedures. That said, I don't know that society would be better off if that person were forced to care for multiple unwanted children (Freakonomics makes a compelling argument along these lines).
- Unisex bathrooms? Never really aware of this as an issue. If there is the option, I'm going with single-sex; if not, I'll take whatever's available.

I believe in a separation of Church and State. There should be one singular civilly recognized form of union between two consenting adults, regardless of gender, for legal and tax purposes. Get "married" in your Church by whatever rules they may give you, or don't, it has not place in politics.
Gun control?
There are laws dictating what kind of lights can go on your car. Don't get all preachy when they pass laws about the attachments to your gun.
Abortion?
I hope I never have to make that choice. Keep it legal to keep it safe.

- Who wants to be gawked at while feeding their baby? - Drinking during pregnancy (low to moderate)? Nope. No amount has been proven safe. Why would you want to take any risk? I'd probably have a hard time not saying something if I saw an obviously pregnant woman having a drink. It seems selfish to me
Small amounts have been proven safe in multiple scientific studies. I would love for you to "say something" to me while I enjoy my weekly glass of cabernet in a restaurant. You would be having a seat for awhile while I educated you on all of said studies. But feel free to comment away!

Breastfeeding in public? Okay by me.
Drinking during pregnancy (low to moderate)? I have spent a lot of time in France…no epidemic of fetal alcohol syndrome there and French women often drink moderately throughout pregnancy. In fact the US rate of FAS is higher than the French rate…go figure.
Same sex marriage? Dues paying member of the HRC….been working for equity causes since high school.

I second this comment from @nricole about maternity leave, its a crying shame (literally) that our friends in the US cannot enjoy the same benefits we do up north, having the opportunity to spend a year with your LO (with government pay, not 100% but still awesome) is something all mothers should be able to take advantage of IMO

Um yes. - Drinking during pregnancy (low to moderate)? Low, absolutely. Any more than one drink, questionable. - Same sex marriage? Absolutely - Gun control? Yes. While there are other underlying issues adding to the increase in violence, this seems like a no brainer. There is absolutely no reason the common citizen needs an assault rifle. And just like everything else in society, a few bad apples ruin it for everyone else. Why should something this dangerous be an exception? - Abortion? Not for me, but agree that it will happen regardless and women should have a safe, legal option. - Unisex bathrooms? I don't really care one way or another.

Drinking during pregnancy (low to moderate)? I have spent a lot of time in France…no epidemic of fetal alcohol syndrome there and French women often drink moderately throughout pregnancy. In fact the US rate of FAS is higher than the French rate…go figure.
My husband is French. I've spent a lot of time in France with his family and friends. Several of which have had children in the ten years we've been married. None of them would even consider drinking -even a low amount- during their pregnancies. It's ridiculous to say that the French drink moderately during pregnancy. There are undoubtedly French women who do just as there are American women who do, but it's not a culturally or governmentally supported act.
The rate is still 2 per 1,000 in France (.2%) the same as for the US according to the CDC.
Lol some of y'all would run screaming away from my house. I love guns. If you couldn't tell from my pic. I've had multiple rifles. Including the scary assault rifle. My hubs built it for me. Love it! My sig also says M&P fan girl. I am in love with the M&P line from Smith and Wesson. I need one more and my collection is complete. But I can't decide if I wanna get the last one or start building an SBR (short barrel rifle ).
I have my concealed carry permit and so glad I do. To get it I had to go through multiple background checks and finger printed.
If anyone has any questions please Im me. Women and gun self defense is something I'm very passionate about.

When DH and I got engaged I built him a gun as an engagement present. Its a .338 with a carbon fiber stock and he loves it. I was also a competitive pistol shooter for about 5 years.
Nice!!!! I love carbon fiber. My SBR will have a carbon fiber barrel. If I had the money I would just order one from Larue. My pic is from the Larue Range Day. I'm saving up to take a class from Travis Haley next time he comes this far south.

As a Canadian, I think I'm missing a piece of the story as to why guns are necessary.
- Legalizing marijuana? I think the benefits of smoking marijuana highly outweigh the risks, yet I just don't think the world is ready to have it legalized yet. I mean, I live in Canada where cops have a more important priority over catching pesky teenagers smoking up in their garages or something like that. (I was approached by a cop at one point and all he said to me was to go home and not get caught doing it again). I mean I think there are worse things out there then smoking weed but I just don't know how our society as a whole would treat legalization.
- Pirating movies/music? As a canadian who does this a lot, all I can say is that those psa's saying 'it's not a victimless crime' are pretty stupid. And i'm talking about like major movies and music, indie stuff I pay for because I want to support the little guys. But when you say that the giant CEO of Warner Bros is hurt because I downloaded the live action movie of Scooby Doo....like can't you see how ridiculous that even sounds.
- Breastfeeding in public? Alright siddown people because FEEDING YOUR CHILD VIA ANYTHING SHOULD BE LEGAL ALRIGHT. Like seriously quit sexualizing a female body part THAT IS ACTUALLY FOR FEEDING CHILDREN.
- Abortion? Pro-choice all the way. It's YOUR body and if you don't want something (that isn't even a fetus yet, just a bunch of cells) in your body then you should have EVERY RIGHT to take that out of your body.
Drinking during pregnancy (low to moderate)? I have spent a lot of time in France…no epidemic of fetal alcohol syndrome there and French women often drink moderately throughout pregnancy. In fact the US rate of FAS is higher than the French rate…go figure.

Maybe a difference in the crowds we were with (or even the time we were in country). I spent most of my time there in the late 90s / early 00s. I do hear in the last 6-7 years the government has become more proactive in this area. It is my understanding that the US does not have a higher number of FAS cases per birth, but a higher number in comparison to per cap ETOH consumption.

I use to be indifferent. I really did. Then some things happen in my world that I would never wish on anyone. Taking my classes and having my concealed carry is a tool I have that take very seriously. It's my way and right to be able to defend my body and life if called for.

See, in PA all I had to do was submit to a quick background check and I had my license in 10 minutes. My MIL, who is bipolar and suffers from depression, was able to get one, because she has never been hospitalized for it. She, IMO, shouldn't have one, nor should she be allowed to own a gun. If any of our children were to have a mental condition, I already told DH his guns go. I don't care if he keeps them at work, but they won't be allowed in the house.
Also, you can open carry in PA with no license as long as you are over 21.
Gun legislation needs to be standardized across the board, with every state having the same checks to go through and the same requirements. Each state having its own requirements is stupid and the lack of standardization makes it very confusing as to what you can/can't do.
I had to wait for months to get mine back. Each state having its own laws is why it's important that more people get educated. Education is key. How mental illness is diagnosed and confirmed and then linked to being able get a permit through the law enforcement is a slippery slope. It calls into question how tightly connected you want your doctor and the law.
I'm 100% supportive of hunting and self protection. It seems the problem is that it's too easy to be obtained. The average person wouldn't need a handgun if it weren't so easy for so many other people to have them. This is a big part of the problem, no?
I know a total of zero people with a handgun and a total of two people who have guns solely for hunting. I wouldn't have a clue about how to obtain a gun or even why.

I wish we were close enough that you could come over and I would take you out to a range. Owning a gun is so common here. I guess it also has a lot to do with your culture your in.
- Legalizing marijuana? Yes there is no actual reason for it to be illegal, IMO its less damaging than alcohol and I can honestly say that it saved my life 3 years ago. - Legalizing prostitution? Yes, it's going to happen anyways so those girls need protection and be required to be frequently tested. - The current administration? Awful but we didn't have a legitimate choice either time Obama was elected. - Obamacare (US)? If it had been done better yes. I am also in MA and it worked fine here. However being done on a national scale was just too much. - Pirating movies/music? The entertainment industry is not loosing any money on it. Most people that pirate anything wouldn't buy it anyways. watch32.com and free-tv-video-online.me are my favorite sites - Breastfeeding in public? Of course but modestly please. - Drinking during pregnancy (low to moderate)? I wouldn't be worried if I seen someone take a few sips of wine or something similar but I wouldn't be able to bring myself to do it. - Same sex marriage? Should definitely be legal. They have just as much right as anyone else to be happy/miserable. If you don't like gay marriage don't get one. - Gun control? Limited I have a right to defend my home and my family - Abortion? Only as a last resort, and I feel the father should have a say in it also. It might be our bodies but it's his child to. - Unisex bathrooms? Like all of the bathrooms be unisex? Hell no. I love the women's room being clean and would like them to stay that way. There should be a men's room women's room and a family room. Also a clean comfortable place to breast feed.
I also agree with the discussion about maternity leave. Take the extra tax money from the marijuana and prostitution, cut the pay for government officials, and put someone in office that has ever had to balance a checkbook, We would have plenty of money to help new moms spend time with their newborns.
So hard to relate as it is so foreign to me. If I went to a friends/neighbours'/family members' house, it wouldn't even be a consideration if they had a gun. As a PP said, they check with playdates. That is not even a concern. Except if they lived in rural area and I may ask about a hunting rifle. Maybe. If I was really on the ball that day.
@annakaie what kind of Sig do you have? I'm also very big on women knowing how to defend themselves, and unfortunately in NJ we can't conceal carry, so our guns are for recreation and home defense. That being said, I love my Sig!
- Legalizing marijuana? Oh yes!! its already legal to consume here, but the sold product isnt regulated as much as it should be like in Amsterdam. Legalizing it would make a much safer product thats already being smoked by most of the population anyway. - Legalizing prostitution? Its legal here lol We dont have much of a poblem with it. The girls are kept safe and are checked regularly for health resons. - The current administration? Ill admit that i dont have enough knowledge to answer this - Obamacare (US)? Doesnt apply to me. We have universal healthcare already and enjoy it immensely - Pirating movies/music? no real need for it.... youtube is enough for me. - Breastfeeding in public? Yes. yes.yes!!! Im sick of breasts being seen as nothing but a sex toy. We should be free to use them for what they were made for without being bothered about it!! - Drinking during pregnancy (low to moderate)? Not for me... and I wouldnt reccomend it to anyone else.... - Same sex marriage? Everyone should have the right to marry if they want, reguardless of sexual orientation. People just need to mind their own business and leave others to theirs. - Gun control? Guns are tools for killing. are they really necessary? - Abortion? A woman should have the right to choose what happens to her body, though I do believe that prevention is the best medicine :P cant have an abortion if youre not fooling around in the first place, right? (this of course excludes the poor women who are victims of rape, or desease, etc) - Unisex bathrooms? I dont have a big problem with them....but I prefer a ladies room where no guys have 'peed'n'missed :P

@kbellizi3 I don't have a sig. The ones I call mine are the Smith and Wesson M&P full size (with a small back strap) and the M&P Shield. I carry my Shield every day but my full size is my baby. I even have it named lol. I'm ready for baby to get here to go back shooting! I carry the Shield in a belly band. Since I'm getting a baby bump, I'm having to look at different ways of carry. I hate to purse carry.
I'm big on self defense. Before I got preg, I got a monster of a virus and had to stop taking my martial arts class. I haven't started back again cause its too much money for me still being sick tired and miss so much.

- Pirating movies/music? I don't really have an opinion...I personally don't but I don't care if you do.
- Breastfeeding in public? Um yes.
- Drinking during pregnancy (low to moderate)? Low, absolutely. Any more than one drink, questionable.
- Same sex marriage? Absolutely
- Gun control?
I second this comment from @nricole about maternity leave, its a crying shame (literally) that our friends in the US cannot enjoy the same benefits we do up north, having the opportunity to spend a year with your LO (with government pay, not 100% but still awesome) is something all

I have my concealed carry permit and so glad I do. To get it I had to go through multiple background checks and finger printed.
If anyone has any questions please Im me. Women and gun self defense is something I'm very passionate about.
I'm on mobile so this is slow going for me!
I wouldn't have a clue about how to obtain a gun or even
why.

I wish we were close enough that you could come over and I would take you out to a range. Owning a gun is so common here. I guess it also has a lot to do with your culture your in.
I'm not new. I just hate The Bump.
Most people that pirate anything wouldn't buy it anyways. watch32.com and free-tv-video-online.me are my favorite sites
- Breastfeeding in public? Of course but modestly please.
- Drinking during pregnancy (low to moderate)? I wouldn't be worried if I seen someone take a few sips of wine or something similar but I wouldn't be able to bring myself to do it.
- Same sex marriage? Should definitely be legal. They have just as much right as anyone else to be happy/miserable. If you don't like gay marriage don't get one.
- Gun control? Limited I have a right to defend my home and my family
- Abortion? Only as a last resort, and I feel the father should have a say in it also. It might be our bodies but it's his child to.
- Unisex bathrooms? Like all of the bathrooms be unisex? Hell no. I love the women's room being clean and would like them to stay that way. There should be a men's room women's room and a family room. Also a clean comfortable place to breast feed.

Oh yes!! its already legal to consume here, but the sold product isnt regulated as much as it should be like in Amsterdam. Legalizing it would make a much safer product thats already being smoked by most of the population anyway.
- Legalizing prostitution?
Its legal here lol We dont have much of a poblem with it. The girls are kept safe and are checked regularly for health resons.
- The current administration?
Ill admit that i dont have enough knowledge to answer this
- Obamacare (US)?
Doesnt apply to me. We have universal healthcare already and enjoy it immensely
- Pirating movies/music?
no real need for it.... youtube is enough for me.
(this of course excludes the poor women who are victims of rape, or desease, etc)
- Unisex bathrooms?
I dont have a big problem with them....but I prefer a ladies room where no guys have 'peed'n'missed :P
I misread that then, I looked into an M&P before I decided on my Sig, I'll have to PM you and we can talk more about them!
