How much formula a day?

We're formula feeding now :( Sad. I miss BFing.
Anyways, how much formula does your little one get a day - when and how many ounces? This is all new territory to me!

Re: How much formula a day?

  • Well dd gets pretty much three meals of solids a day but still fits in anywhere from 4 to 5 eight ounce bottles from the time she wakes up till she goes to bed. But, she still always wants to get full from a bottle before she naps so that accounts for two of those bottles. Sometimes it's more, sometimes it's less. It just depends on how much solid food she's in the mood to eat on any given day

  • My lo eats 3 solid meals a day and 3 8 oz bottles a day and if he wakes motn then he has one 6 oz bottle. He takes a bottle before both naps and before bed.
  • AM he gets an 8oz bottle 1oz is whole milk. Then before bed he gets a 7oz bottle and 1oz is whole milk. He has baby food the rest of the day. cereal and fruit for breakfast. Veg and fruit for lunch and a meat and fruit for dinner. Unless we have chicken or something he can have we feed him reveal food.

He gets 6-8oz of formula first thing in the morning but often only drinks 6oz, cereals fruits and yogourt for breakfast, 6oz of formula for snack (nap 1), vegetables meat and fruits for lunch, 6oz of formula for a snack (nap 2), vegetables and fruits (sometimes cereals if still hungry) for dinner and 8oz of formula before bed. He doesn't sleep (nap OR night) without a bottle first... He also gets some solids for snacks when he refuses his bottle, which means no nap... Or a very late and short one.

    That's still 26-30oz a day (recommendation is 24-32).

  • My son is a big boy.. 10M 24lbs. He has 3 meals a day, combo of fruits, veggies, yogurt, egg, chicken, and pretty much whatever we eat. Snacks are usually Cheerios or yogurt bites, if he has any. He also still takes 4-5 bottles a day. The morning is a 6oz bottle. 2-3 during the day are each 4oz and his night time one is 8oz. I usually make him 6, except for his night time one, and let him drink as much as he wants. He'll push it away when he is done.

  • For food, DD eats 3 meals, what we're eating. She still has about 6 4 oz bottles a day, as well.

  • J just started eating table foods and I've noticed since he has been eating more real food, his formula intake has decreased. He takes three 4-6oz bottles during the day and one 8oz bottle before bed. He also is offered a sippy of water with his afternoon snack. I would say he gets between 20-24 oz a day. We just switched to the similac go and grow formula and he has been doing well with it!

  • My little guy takes 4 bottles a day.  I usually offer 6 ounces and sometimes he takes all of it but sometimes he only wants 4-5 ounces.  He nurses in the morning and then immediately takes 5 ounces of formula (I'm not producing much breastmilk anymore), breakfast at 9, and then will take a bottle at 11, then nap, then lunch around 1, a bottle at 3, snack at 5, and then the last bottle at 7 and to bed at 8.   I offer a sippy cup of water at all three meals.

I've been thinking about syncing up the bottles and the meals and also switching to a sippy cup full time.  Has anyone made the transition to from bottle to sippy cup for milk/formula feeding?  How did it go?
