Presley? Girl name

Any negatives about Presley for a girl? I like that it's not over done and femine.

  • I really dislike this name. A lot.

Me too. It's a last name, not a first name, and it doesn't sound feminine AT ALL!
  • I absolutely hate it. I would consider it more of a boy's name, and a bad one at that.
  • I think it's a pretty bad name.
  • To me it's all Elvis, and no feminine.

  • It's certainly not feminine and if it's not overdone there's a darn good reason... It's a terrible name.

  • NMS, not a fan of masculine names on girls. I'd go for something like Priscilla or Penny over Presley.
  • It's masculine, associated with Elvis, and is a last name.

  • not even slightly feminine or first name-ish for that matter. although apparently lately anything ending in the -lee sound is fair game for baby girls. blech. i guess I'm glad you didnt say Presleigh
  • Sorry, not feminine at all imo. If P is your thing though there are some good ones.

  • It's very, very masculine. If you're going for not over done and feminine, try again.

had a former student named Hannah and she had two little sisters, Peyton and Presleigh. I always felt like the two little ones got the short end of the stick.

  • The surname-y -ley names for girls are overdone and it's not really that feminine.

  • It's different, so of course I like it! I do think she'll get Elvis comments a lot though.

  • It's not different, DS had a Presley in his class. It's actual very trendy in the surname as a fn category.

  • Well, it's not really masculine or feminine, since it's usually a surname.  I think it's just OK, but will sound dated in 10 years.

My cousin's DD is named Presley.  Him and his wife are HUGE Elvis fans-- so much so that their boy name was actually Elvis.

Anyway, my cousin's DD is an adorable little girl-- Presley seems to suit her, but for me, part of the fun of naming a girl was pouring through all of the gorgeous girl names there are.  I just can't imagine Presley being "the one". (Unless you are a huge Elvis fan too?)

Or, more to the point, I just don't get it. It is the last name of a dead musican.

  • On a scale of 1 to Graceland, how many Elvis paintings on black velvet are in your home? Do you own a lot of those cheesy pictures that have Elvis and Marilyn Monroe at the soda shop? Those are what I think of when I see that name on a child. Also, on a girl I tend to trend more hipster nonsense (this brought to you by the sibset of Presley and Lennon, both girls that I know).

  • I think it is overdone right now. If you look at the combined spelling name list you'll see a shitton of abominations like Prezlee and Presleigh.
