Eye exams post partum?

I need to get a new prescription for my glasses and I'd like to try contacts for the first time as well.

Does anyone know when you can typically go back for an eye exam? They don't usually do them while PG because it can change your vision.

No idea, but I'm way over due for an eye test and am pretty damn sure my old glasses aren't cutting it any more. In for the answer.

I had to go get new glasses/contacts after DS was born. He was born in September and I'm pretty sure I went to the eye doctor in November.

I went last month and my optometrist didn't say anything about it... hmm...

I had my eye exam in Sept (because driver's license renewal and because not wanting to go to DMV). My eyes hadn't changed at all, so I'll prob just go in Sept again. Unless I'm having issues.

So if my eyes have gotten worse during pregnancy there could be a chance they will go back to what they were?

I had lasik, but my night vision has gotten so bad during pregnancy that I had to get glasses to wear when I drive.

noconalove I had lasik done in 2007. My vision changed during my first pregnancy and hasn't went back yet, unfortunately.

I was told three months, but that's to be SURE. Your eyesight might not change at all!

I went to the eye doctor while pregnant and he said for most people it doesn't impact their eyes at all actually.

I am an ophthalmic technician, so I do this for a living.  It is competely fine to get an exam while pregnant.  Most people's prescription does not change while pregnant, some just become more reliant on their glasses that's all.  Go ahead and go when you need to.

@missy0483 That's what I was afraid of....I guess I can go back for the touch up after I am done having children.

I went to my eye doctor last month and he said that my prescription did change a bit and attributed it to being pregnant. He recommended waiting about 3 months postpartum for them to go back to normal.

I'm due for my exam right now and my eye doctor suggested I wait a couple months after baby comes. He slipped me extra contacts to get me through until then.

Hmmm Im surprised by this. Unless you have GD, your rx shouldnt chsnge much from being pregnant. But, if you get an exam and it did change, they may just want to make sure its a real change, and not from the pregnancy. We never tell people to wait a few months after pregnancy to come in, but, every doc may have a different opinion on this.
