1.) What process are you/have you been involved with in the fostering/adopting world?
Foster/adopt boy 1-4
2.) Who are you in the triad?
potential foster/adoptive mom
3.) How are things going lately? Any YAYs or UGHs happening? Let's hear them!
Not great. I have just been waiting and waiting since November for our worker to finish and submit our home study but he is taking his sweet time. He said it was finished but he needed something from the police (some BG ckeck) but he doesn't seem to eager to try to get it. Still have to wait on his supervisors approval and then a final approval from the state when he does finish so probably still a few months from being licensed when he told us we would probably have a kid by Dec. Sorry for being negative, just discouraged by the process.
4.) What's the most recent accomplishment for you/your family?
I can't really think of one now. I was officially accepted into a PhD program but I already but my tentative acceptance as my accomplishment last update
5.) QOTW - When did you start preparing your nursery/child's room? Extra points for pictures!!
I did it in Nov when we started our home study. I moved DS into the bigger bedroom so they can share it, painted it and put in a crib/toddler bed, new dresser and added a reading nook.
1.) What process are you/have you been involved with in the fostering/adopting world?
Foster/adopt
2.) Who are you in the triad?
PAP
3.) How are things going lately? Any YAYs or UGHs happening? Let's hear them!
Getting ready to submit the second round of paperwork to the agency this week. Fingerprints were sent off last week for our background checks.
4.) What's the most recent accomplishment for you/your family?
I survived a business trip to Europe last week and have conquered jet lag.
5.) QOTW - When did you start preparing your nursery/child's room? Extra points for pictures!!
We haven't yet and may not until we get closer to placement. I am thinking it may be nice for the child(ren) to pick out some of the items for their bedroom. We have started putting money aside each month to cover the costs when the time comes.
1.) What process are you/have you been involved with in the fostering/adopting world? DIA
2.) Who are you in the triad? Adoptive Mama
3.) How are things going lately? Any YAYs or UGHs happening? Let's hear them! YAY: Don't take this the wrong way- -- we went over 24 hours without sending a picture or texing our sons birth mom and the world didn't end--- we're a super connected triad and it's been really hard to get any separation...so that small little bit felt really brave. And it felt good to know that a day could go by and things could just pick up where they were. My agency makes me want to throttle them. We are in limbo- can't file for finalization because they don't have paper work back from their lawyer (but they can't explain why to me) and also we have an outstanding medical bill from our sons birth (that his birth mom hasn't sent to them, but told them about). So it's just really irritating. Our lawyer also has not returned my phone calls- and send me basically a two sentence email that essentially said "nope, no answers"
4.) What's the most recent accomplishment for you/your family? DS is sitting up on his own. He can stand up if he holds onto something and he smiles and laughs tons.
5.) QOTW - When did you start preparing your nursery/child's room? Extra points for pictures!! We started after we knew we had a match- probably around March of last year. Then, when we invited our sons mom over for dinner I had a nervous breakdown and hired a painter to come get the room done.
@maryoosa - I think that's good that you're getting a bit of separation in now, no matter how small! And your nursery -- how adorable! And Go Steelers!

3.) YAY! We got a packet with the paperwork portion of the home study, so I guess they like us.
4.) I accomplished getting over the flu. That's about it for this week. Lol!
5.) We started on the nursery a few months ago... All we've done is paint.. but we will probably do more once we are home study complete or get a match. We've bought a crib and a few baby items, but won't put all of it together until later.
1.) DIA
2.) PAP
3.) We had a 'Baby Care' class on Wednesday and it was actually super helpful. My DH and I were in there with 3 other couples who are pregnant so I was worried how I would feel because I wasn't actually pregnant but everyone was really receptive and very kind. It was nice. And yesterday, we had our agency Education class so our next step is on to making our Profiles, our video and working on our Key. Exciting!
4.) As far as accomplishment, nothing too much other than our classes. Our home study visit was last week so we should be approved very soon.
5.) We picked our color but haven't started painting yet. We want to pull up the carpet first and put down new floors so once that is done, we will paint. But we decided on paint and a general theme of Elephants! Very, very excited about the elephants!

@maryoosa, plant and soil science. Your nursery is adorable! Yay for sitting, such a fun stage.
I am really sorry for the slowness of some SW. When there are so many kids waiting, it is sad to hear stories like that about delays in paperwork.
1.) What process are you/have you been involved with in the fostering/adopting world?
We had placement on Nov 18 for foster to adopt. Sibling group, girl age almost 4 and boy age 2. Birth parents lost rights in October. Permanency hearing in December. Just waiting for redactive files to come through so we can get this show on the road and adopt.
2.) Who are you in the triad? foster to adopt mom
3.) How are things going lately? Any YAYs or UGHs happening? Let's hear them!
Toddlers are so much fun,so curious. I love this. Last week they started preschool so the disruption in routine was tough and we say some rough behavior.
4.) What's the most recent accomplishment for you/your family?
does getting excited about potty training a kiddo count?!
5.) QOTW - When did you start preparing your nursery/child's room? Extra points for pictures!!
We only had 2 days. It was a madhouse. We got it done and love it. We waited until we knew because we were so open about age and also had taken a break from looking for a while to take care of my mom.
1.) What process are you/have you been involved with in the fostering/adopting world?
DIA - waiting....

PAP

Nothing much has been happening! YAY my license came so I can start the new job in the near future... Ugh... I have to send in my Notice today stating I am quitting the current job!
4.) What's the most recent accomplishment for you/your family?
The hubs has a career in the banking world... I LOVE federal holidays as that means an extra day with him! Yesterday was one of those days (Happy MLK day! We all have a dream... live it! Make it happen!) and he and I spent the day around the house doing lots of projects!
5.) QOTW - When did you start preparing your nursery/child's room? Extra points for pictures!!
We were home study approved at the beginning of December - with all the events that occured in December for our family we decided the first Sunday in January that it was time to look at something POSITIVE in 2014.... SO we decided to paint the nursery. I had purchased the bedding YEARS ago when my niece was a baby... I knew I loved it then and wanted to use it for our baby... I LOVE it just as much now as I did then! So, that sealed the deal on our nursery! Thankfully it is gender neutral! It's primary colored with letters, and animals on it (NOT jungle!)! The pictures are of the room as of this morning. Every couple of months we will purchase the next piece of furniture. Currently we have the crib and my dad made us a craddle.... We need to get a toy/book cabinet/shelf, dresser/changing table combo, and a chair of some sort!

3.) How are things going lately? Any YAYs or UGHs happening? Let's hear them! Yay- my sister found out last week she's expecting a little girl in May. Ugh- I'm just having some struggles with remaining optimistic lately. It comes and goes.
4.) What's the most recent accomplishment for you/your family? Hubby and I are working on getting back in shape- we went a little nuts and got lazy over the holidays
5.) QOTW - When did you start preparing your nursery/child's room? Extra points for pictures!! We opted to go with a neutral jungle theme. The walls were already painted a soft but sunny yellow. We were handed down a changing table/dresser and a rocking chair which I recently re-upholstered. We set up the crib about 6 months ago when we thought we were going to provide a few days of interim care for a child. Honestly, its done... which is great but its also like- now what?
