Dr. Schulze SuperFood as a prenatal vitamin?

Is anyone taking or has anyone taken Dr Schulze's SuperFood as a prenatal vitamin? Thoughts?

Re: Dr. Schulze SuperFood as a prenatal vitamin?

  • I've compared it to the prenatal vitamin my doctor gave me before I was pregnant. It doesn't have quite as much folic acid, but everything else is pretty much the same or better. I was thinking about taking extra folic acid to make up the difference :) I haven't seen the doctor yet, so I was just wondering if anyone else has gotten the okay to take SuperFood instead of a prenatal vitamin.

Here is the answer straight from the source:

This is all I am taking and feel confident that it will be enough as it is all natural instead of lab made. Just my personal preference :)

I wouldn't necessarily consider the blog of a person who is trying to sell you a product to be a reliable source on whether or not you should use that product...

WhoCanItBeNow: Just FYI but the Vitamin A in Superfood is beta-carotene (not Retinol). In the body, beta-carotene is changed into vitamin A (retinol) and our bodies only convert as much as they need. So because of the perfect feedback systems our bodies have in place it would be impossible to OD on the Vitamin A in Superfood. This is not true of course if you are taking Vit A in the form of retinol.

greeneyed_bride: I agree! But I have been taking his products for years and have had a lot of success so for me it was a no brainer once I became pregnant. I feel like all websites do that. Everyone is trying to sell you their own version of a product. So I just went with one that I had experience with. But I agree that it is important to do your research and not take everything at face value. Many people have a hidden agenda, especially when it comes to $$.
  • P.S. I was only sharing my opinion and my preference. But I'll bow out before people assume I'm working for the herb doc or something. Best of luck emilyve :)
  • Thanks for the info guys! I did decide not to take it because of the amount of vitamin A, but I may look into the effects of the different forms of vitamin A (I didn't even know there were different forms!) and ask my midwife at my first appointment. Thanks again :)
