Constantly thirsty

Wow... It doesn't matter how much water I drink. I am ALWAYS thirsty! It doesn't seem to be affecting my supply but it would be nice to be able to go more than 10 minutes without needing something.

I guess that's more of a dear diary! Any one else thirsty all the time?

Re: Constantly thirsty

  • I am constantly! I probably drink twice the recommended amount a day! I thought it might slow down once my supply was established, no such luck...

  • When I was pregnant, I got up to pee. Now I get up to drink water!
  • Is it weird I'm rarely hungry or thirsty? I'm trying to eat and drink more but I could go all day on one meal and one drink. DH actually commented on my weight the other night. I just get so distracted between M and homework.

  • Yep! The hospital sent home a 32oz water bottle and I keep it next to me at all the times. BF makes me sooooo thirsty.
  • I have two 32-oz bottles and fill them both several times a day. It's crazy how much water I can pound. Breastfeeding does weird things to you, lol. Oh but ditto Amber, I'm hardly ever hungry so I have to make a conscious effort to get enough calories.

  • I wish I could go all day without eating. I'm never really hunger but never full either. I'm glad I'm not the only thirsty one.

  • I'm drinking over a gallon a day. My thirst hasn't changed since my GD days which was making me nervous, but after reading this post I fell a bit more "normal".
  • ::raises hand:: super thirsty too. I'm rarely hungry though.

It might be a good idea to check with your doctor about diabetes? Easy blood test to do. Excessive thirst was one of my main symptoms when I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2006.

  • Definitely thirsty here too!! I have a 32oz cup from the hospital that I love, but the darn straw broke in half in the dishwasher :-( so now I have been just using the big yellow dickeys BBQ cups. They're everywhere! Lol

  • Yup, thirsty here too.  I try to make a point of drinking more water every time I pee, or nurse.  The hardest is when I'm out of the house - the dry winter air combined with breastfeeding thirst = dire.

And ditto on the hungry/not hungry thing.  I don't "feel hungry" but if I'm not constantly eating throughout the day I get lightheaded and spacey, which is very much no bueno.
