Hi!
LO number two will arrive in early July. We just found out it is a boy which is so exciting because we already have a girl. DH and I had very little trouble agreeing on DD's name, but we are having a hard time agreeing on a boy name. DH and I are of the Chriatian faith, and DH really wants a name that he can share with his son the story connected to the name. For example, DH's favorite Old Testament prophet is Elijah. We mulled over that as a first name, but we have a very strong, 3-syllable German last name. Elijah doesn't roll off the tongue with the last name. DH's top first name is one that I just have a hard time reckoning because it is so common. It would be Jason with the middle name Elijah. I like it, but I'm not sold. So, I researched some names that sounded very similar to Jason with the same ease off the tongue and I came up with Judson Elijah. Any thoughts on that name? Any suggestions for names that sound similar to Jason that would go well with the middle name Elijah?
OP I was in the same naming situation as you. I eventually got used to the name my husband picked but it had significant meaning. Anyway, the naming is the hard part as far as two different opinions. Maybe you both should sit down again and talk about another solution. I wouldn't stress if it does not fit with the last name perfectly. Make sure it does not sound silly...some kids can be cruel with name teasing as they get older.
I don't care for common names either. I personally like the name Elijah nickname Eli but Judson...?? hhmmm, I am not feeling it but hey, it's the name you, husband, and your son will have to live with forever. Just saying.

Eli is a good name, and is it not biblical? It may flow better with a 3 syllable last name. Can you name him Eli outright, perhaps hubby can even still explain it was inspired by "Elijah".

I'd go to the baby names board... they're very helpful and have good opinions.
