PGD vs DNA testing for inheritable diseases

For those of you doing PGD, I was wondering if that was your choice, or something your clinic routinely does.  My clinic suggested DNA genetic testing on us before we started the IVF process, but has not mentioned PGD.  Does anyone know if it's usually one test or the other, or both, or any other info on this is appreciated.

I believe many with PGD recommended have either an already known issue found through DNA testing, or repeat loss (with having had genetic testing on the losses showing genetic abnormalities).
For example we did genetic testing on our recent loss to determine if we should have pgd moving forward. If you have no known history of loss or genetic disorders that most REs don't recommend it for IVF.

Our RE recommended it due to recurrent loss and no real issues found in the RPL testing. It is quite expensive but we are hoping to avoid future losses.

We had to undergo DNA testing before starting IVF but did not do PGD. I ended up being a carrier for 3 weird super rare mutations but DH came back completely normal so we decided not to pursue PGD.
