WTF appt update/advice needed...

 We had our WTF yesterday. Turns out our recent BFN was a chemical. WTH? On beta day, our nurse left me a voicemail just saying that it was negative and to schedule a follow up with our RE. Nothing about it being chemical. Apparently my beta was only an 8, but that is still a step (and a first) for us. This was a FET so no chance of it being from a trigger shot. Our RE acted as though a chemical falls into the same catagory as our past BFNs. I'm confused - doesn't a chemical mean that something tried to happen? Shouldn't this mean something for us? I feel like they dropped the ball. I so badly want this situation to be our glimmer of hope...

I think you need a new clinic because a chemical means your able to get pg. congrats! And FYI my betas are always very low my successful pg started at 13. What did your re say they would do differently?

Would it change anything from a treatment perspective if it's classified as a chemical? I understand it might be different emotionally, but that's a different issue.

I'm pretty sure at my clinic your beta needs to be above 10 to be considered a positive (or therefor a chemical rather than a bfn). I've never really inquired about it, because I've seen similar policies with other posters so it didn't seem out of the ordinary to me.

Aside from just knowing for your own peace of mind, I think the issue is whether this would change treatment options or indicate more testing.

@geordie314 They had me stop my meds then. I got AF shortly after stopping, so I didn't think to question anything... lesson learned though.

Yes a chemical is different than a bfn!! Although we were totally sad about our chemical I felt like at least something finally happened, and my RE acted like it have us a lot of information about timing etc. I'd def talk to your RE

I'm so sorry! I think most clinics consider a 5 enough to stay on meds and repeat beta. Most often they don't end well though, but hopefully it's a glimmer of hope. They should have at least told you it was a chemical. I hope you get some answers soon!!

That would really piss me off.
You should have been made aware of the chemical before your wtf. I'm sorry about that.

I would prob switch REs.... At least get a 2nd opinion.

I'm sorry for your loss, MrsC. And I'm sorry there were boneheads at your RE's office. I think you can take this as a glimmer of hope!

I've been thinking about this since I read it the other day. I would be mad. Most clinics count 5 as positive. Granted, it's low, but crazier things have happened. If you stay at your current clinic, make sure that they know that you'd like to be told your beta number, not just negative/positive, from this point out.

I think this is a good sign though!
