Biting phase... how long does it normally last??

Experiences? A girl in our soon to be daycare (my friend's girl) is now 18 months old and she has been biting since she was 7 months old. She bit my nephew in his face and drew blood and left a bruise yesterday. I'm sure my friend is beside herself because she's tried everything to get her to stop. How long before she outgrows this biting phase? She's bit my girls many times, but only left a welp. I'm getting so tired of it, and I know my friend is too!

Probably until they are done teething. At least that was when ds1 stopped. Of course he has been bit 3 times in as many weeks by another boy in his preschool and they are the 2 to 3 year olds. So maybe never.
That has to be hard for your friend though.
