Baby Names

luke

Too popular? I really am loving it but wonder if it's just too generic.

  • I love Luke. If this baby would have been a boy his name would have been Luke Edward.

  • LOVE Luke or Luca. I happen to like short simple names, but that doesn't make them "generic". In a world of trendy, misspelled, made up names, Luke sounds very refreshing. <:-P
  • Love Luke. I know a few of my Facebook friends have named their sons this, but none locally. It's my son's middle name. I find it more traditional and masculine than Luca. Yes it's generic, but also a strong name.

If my DD was a boy that would have been his name. I think it's a great classic and I don't know anyone with a baby or child named Luke. I know a lot of kids.

  • I'm just stuck on the fact it's #37 I the ss name list. None of my kids are in the top 100. I know that doesn't mean I can't use it, not she why I'm hung up on that.

  • I love it.  Our #1 boy name would be Lucas nn Luke if it weren't DH's cousin's name.

  • Love it. It is in our top 3 boy names but I always question it because of its rank on SSA. In 8 years of teaching, I've never encountered a H.S. with it and only 1 preschooler.

  • I just had a baby boy and named him Luke Henry so I obviously love this name! Don't know any other Lukes.  I hear Lucas more.
  • I love Luke. It's my second choice for a boy name, and I may switch to it before June!
  • I love it and it would have been a top contender if it weren't ridiculous with our last name L0cke. The only thing that bugs me is that a lot of people assume its a nn for Lucas (which it is in many cases). But, hello? The book in the bible is Luke not Lucas, so obviously it can stand alone.

I have a Lucas, NN Luke. Lucas flows better with our last name, but we loved Luke.

    I say go for it!
