Where to go from here- sippy cup ?

Need help deciding.  DD drinks from the soft spouted sippy cup.  She will also drink from a hard spout, she has at my friends house when I didn't have her sippy, but we don't own any.  She won't drink from a straw, we have a couple straw cups and they are a no go as of now.  I guess my concern is how long should she be using a soft spouted cup? or a hard spout? I am probably over-thinking this.

So my options:

1. stay with soft spout  sippy and she'll eventually use the straw.
2. buy hard spout sippy now and ditch soft spouts
3. buy the nifty natural drinking trainer cups
4. other thoughts?

ETA: BONUS QUESTION: do you use a snack trap container? any recs?

Stick with the soft spout if it works. DD is using a straw cup, but we just started that a few weeks ago. Out next step will be some spill proof cups like these: https://smile.amazon.com/Sassy-Count-Purple-Orange-Ounce/dp/B0062BVY42/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1389926545&sr=8-1&keywords=no+spill+cup We have the Munchkin snack cups. They work pretty well.

I never knew this type of cup existed! Where in the world have I been?!

  • I don't thinking straw vs sippy matters unless your lo is having delays. Ds1 was speech delayed and we had to only use straw. But if you lo is typical. I don't see any problem.

I got DS this last week and he has ZERO clue on how to drink out from it, even though I tried to show him over and over again.  You have to suck pretty hard to get liquid out (I tried it myself).

Anyway, what DS discovered is that if he turns the cup upside down and bang it on the floor (or table whatever), he can get the water to come out so he gets to play with a big puddle of water on the floor!  Needless to say, the cups are now hidden in the cupboard.
