Rec your baby sling

For my son I never used a sling.  I had an infant carrier, but thought it was uncomfortable and didn't use it very much.  This time around I want a fabric sling where I can have the baby sleep...  I'm curious about one shoulder fabric slings... the kind with 2 metal hoops.  The baby K'tan also intrigues me but goes over both shoulders.
Advice and recommendations needed.  Thanks!

I'm also crafty and I'm planning on making one... if any of the sewing moms out there have a great pattern they want to share.

Re: Rec your baby sling

  • Not a sling, but I can vouch for the K'Tan. DS had no problem sleeping in that one and it was more comfortable for my shoulders than a sling because the weight is evenly distributed. Very easy to put on!

  • I had a sling (not sure of the brand) and hated it! I just never felt like LO was safe in there and it felt like he would fall out. It had no rings and was just a folded loop of material so maybe that's why?

  • We had a K-Tan and looooved it!  We also had a ring sling, which I used a little bit, but the K-Tan is so much more comfortable for those early cuddly months at home!

  • I have a Comfy Joey that I adore, a Maya Wrap that is less comfortable, and a Inda Jani from 5mr.com that I love and use often. https://5mr.com/collections/ringslings/products/inda-jani-rebozo-yee-rojo

Post csection, my Moby was really uncomfortable.  The Ergo was worse and so I bought a Maya Wrap.  It was nice, but as Kevin grew it got less comfortable.  What I love about the Comfy Joey and Inda Jani is that they are cool and they are really easy to get tight.

Does your local area have a babywearing group?  We have a local group that has a lending library where you can try out carriers.

  • Thanks ladies.  I'll give some of these a try.

There is such a thing as a mommy wearing group?

I'll probably try the k'tan since so many of you like it, but I'll probably make myself a ring sling to try out.  (s)he will be born in July, so it'll be really hot.  I'm not sure if baby wearing is gonna work too well. But may be the best bet since I'll also be caring for a 2 year old, yikes!
