Help me evaluate/diagnose pain

I've been having pain on the right side on/off since Christmas. I'm fairly sure I got a clogged duct over the holiday due to decrease in pumping after traveling. Since then I've had mild to now increasing pain on the right side. It typically happens right when he starts nursing and then about 5-10 minutes after I'm done nursing/pumping. The pain is deep in the tissue. My right breast doesnt ever feel like it gets truly empty anymore. Its always been bigger and fuller but it oftentimes still feels full but doesnt currently feel like there is a clogged duct in there. In addition I've had a white mark on/off on my right nipple. It went away with consistent nursing on that side but then just reoccured (same place on the nipple.)
LO doesnt have any white marks inside his mouth so I thought that would rule out thrush. Who do I see? My OB? Go to a lactation consultant?
I'm at a loss and really want to get it figured out soon.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Help me evaluate/diagnose pain

  • Do you have any hard spots?  Does this feel different then when you thought you had a clogged duct?

  • The right breast feels more dense but this morning I've nursed on that side twice (5 am and 9am) and pumped it at 7am. Finally on the last nursing session the pain wasnt as acute as it was before, but I definitely still felt it.
So to answer your question its not like the times I definitely had a clogged duct, but it is more dense. A couple of times I've had the thought that the entire breast doesnt seem to be emptying as well.
LO doesnt have any white spots inside mouth or lips
