what is your cold/flu remedy?

I have been sick for almost a week (just like the rest of the office). I have been drinking vitamin C everyday, honey lemon stuff... nothing seems to really help. I am unsure about what meds I can take either. Any recommendations?

Re: what is your cold/flu remedy?

  • Get a lot of sleep if you can and drink a lot of water.

  • I too have my second nasty cold of the pregnancy (I work with 3-5 year old germ spreaders)! I didn't take anything but water, OJ and rest in the first tri and the cold lasted a solid week. This time around is worse and I tried a tylenol last night to rest a little more comfotably and two pumps of Afrin this evening so I could breath and hopefully sleep better than last night! Afrin is the only cold remedy besides fluids, rest, vapor rub and/or saline on my doc's 'approved meds/remedies' list... Good luck and feel better soon!
  • Id talk with my doctor.
  • After 10 days of having a cold, i finally gave in and took the approved medicine from my dr which was robitussin (plain) and claritin ( plain). It helped wish I had started sooner BC it had developed into a sinus infection and am now on an antibiotic. Finally feeling back to normal after 2 weeks of being sick
  • Sleep, water, and Vitamin C.

If it gets bad, go ahead and take a dose of whatever medicine your Dr has approved (Sudafed, Robitussin, etc...) I usually just take it at night so it relieves the symptoms a bit and I can actually sleep.

  • I'm going on week two and was trying to fight through it with just vitamins, fluids, and rest but I finally got to the point where I had to take something. I've been alternating Mucinex and a nasal spray which are both two of few things on my dr's approved meds list. They've helped immensely. I also got these non-medicated tablets that you put in the shower with you that seriously clear out the congestion.

  • Last time I had a cold, I used the simply saline nasal spray to help with congestion. It seemed to work really well.

  • Vicks! And Vicks on your feet with warm socks over them. Humidifier and sleeping propped up helps, too.

I'm not new. I just hate The Bump.

  • Sleep, vitamin c, water, honey, and chlorophyll tablets (2 a day). These really, really helped me get rid of my congested cough. My husband wasn't so good at the vitamins and he still has his.
  • i have had a terrible cold for over a week too. I tried everything I could to ease some of the congestion and last night as a last ditch effort I ate some horseradish, it did the trick. I feel so much better today.
  • Chew cloves of raw garlic! Pop a few cloves in your mouth and chew for as long as you can stand it, then spit it out! It burns but it kills everything! As long as you don't mind walking around like a garlic breathing dragon I HIGHLY recommend it!

    Hope you feel better soon
