TMI - period smell

Background: Today was my due date. I've been dilated 1 cm for at least 2 1/2 weeks and was 60% effaced at my appt yesterday. My OB checked me for breakage in the amniotic sac and it's still intact. I have been feeling wet down there for most of the day for at least a month now. Since my appt yesterday, I've been having more contractions that feel a little more intense than period cramps. I felt them for most of the night last night, but then they stopped in the morning and have been off and on all day.

This afternoon I went to the bathroom and was expecting to see the bloody show because I smelled distinctly what my period usually smells like (kind of metallic and fishy). But nothing was in my underwear or the toilet paper. I've been noticing this smell every time I've been to the bathroom since, and I've been in a few different bathrooms so it's definitely me, not a smell in the room. The inner thigh area of my jeans felt kinda wet this afternoon too but I really think that was just sweat. Nothing comes out when I cough hard and sit on the toilet.

Has anyone else smelled this smell before labor or have any suggestions? Thanks for reading--sorry for the details but I warned you in the title! :P

Very interesting! I only smelled like that after I had bloody show, but it seems to have persisted somewhat after the show stopped and I have showered since as well. Not sure, but maybe Dr. Google has an answer :-)

It might just be your discharge. Mine smelled weird right before I had my son.

I was thinking this exact same thing yesterday while using the restroom. I don't remember this with the other two, I had hoped it meant I was getting closer!
