Question for you ladies... when people say to look for 6 wet diapers in the newborn stage (first couple weeks) to make sure baby is getting enough milk, do you count poopy diapers too, or just wet ones? (since they poop so often in the beginning)
So, for example, if a 5 day old had 3 poopy diapers and 4 wet ones....you would say they are not getting enough milk? Or maybe that mom's milk has not fully come in yet?
Are you using the diapers with the line that indicate it is wet, and checking it every hour? I know many times that line was blue when it didn't seem wet to me at all when I changed it. At 5 days, it's hard to tell since the wet is so small. Checking the line frequently will ease your mind because you'll see if there was a wet before the poop. GL!
thanks for the advice everyone. I am not currently nursing but trying to educate myself on what went wrong last time (I stopped b/c I thought DD wasn't getting enough). I was nursing 8-10x/day. That's good to know about the blue line...we did use those diapers. So even if it doesn't feel heavy enough, if the line turns color then it's considered wet? Thanks again!
