Another Pump Question

I have a Pump In Style Advance pump. My understanding is that the initial sucking is to stimulate the breast and then it switches to the let-down setting. I know to push the let-down button when I am letting down.

Here's my question: do I continue on the let-down setting even once my let-down is over? Or do I switch back to the stimulation setting at that time?

Thanks!

Re: Another Pump Question

  • Keep it in the regular setting for the rest of the pumping session for regular pumping.

  • The let down button is to initiate a letdown.. Once you have letdown, you can push it to stop the letdown mode and start the regular suction mode.

Sometimes I will push the letdown button after about 15min of regular pumping to try to get a second letdown if I haven't already.

(P.S... Glad I could "get over myself" to answer your question).

    Lol. Me too ;)
  • Okay thanks ladies. I just got this new pump and I'm not pumping as much as I used to with my other pump that broke. This info helps.
  • I always just leave it once it switches to let down setting. I'll get another letdown or two even with it like that.

  • I just leave it-- although I have never heard of getting a second letdown by switching it back, I may have to try it out!

I feel like there's a story behind this that I'm missing out on.

  • I leave it. I get a second let down on the regular setting. I second checking the valve membranes! I get about 1oz less per session when mine get old.
