Our Pedi kept our son on his same formula (Similac Advanced) but had us add in small amounts of rice cereal, so basically the same as the AR formulas. I don't have any experience with Nutrimagen, etc., but I can say the added rice cereal did help my DS a lot. He had to be put on Zantac as well and that helped tremendously for the heartburn/pain.

We switched to Enfamil AR and have has great success. My DS has had no issues with constipation. He still occassionally spits up but not every feeding. It is maybe once every couple of days.
It will all depend on the issue causing it. Both my girls were on alimentum/nutramigen for milk allergy. We added cereal bc of the AR. But the thicker AR formulas worked fine for DD1 when she grew out of the allergy. I'd suggest talking to ur ped about ur lo's symptoms before changing. And keep in mind even after changing there cld be old symptoms for a few weeks while lo's system adjusts.

I'd suggest talking to your pedi before switching to those formulas if your LO is under 4 months old. Our Pedi said they don't care about spitup unless DS is in pain, not gaining weight, or its projectile/funky colored vomit. He seems like he often spits up half his meal, but he's gaining weight wonderfully. He is on Zantac as well. Might be better to invest in a lot of bibs and cloth diapers (for burp cloths).
We tried Similac Sensitive but didn't see a huge improvement. After taking her to a specialty chiropractor for torticollis, he found that her mid back was out of place which disrupts digestion which was causing her spit up and to be very gassy. I'm sure chiropractors aren't the answer for all babies, but it's sure helped my DD!
We switched to soy formula (similac isomil) and that helped because he's allergic to milk. Recently we also started zantac. It just depends on what's causing it.
