early signs of flu?

DD (2 and 1/2) has had a mild, dry cough since Saturday.  It's gotten wetter in the past 24 hours and happens about once every 30 minutes.  She also has a runny nose with clear snot.  She has no fever and a good appetite.  

Has the flu started like this for you or your LOs?  I'm trying to map out the rest of my week.....wondering what I'm in for :-)

That sounds like a regular old cold to me.

I agree that sounds like a regular cold. I have read that the flu usually comes on very quickly.

Update: It's a cold.  DD and I both have it.  And I'll be 39 weeks pregnant tomorrow.  Awesome.

Definitely run of the mill cold. I just had influenza, I woke up at 4am with a fever, sore throat, and the worst joint pain you could imagine. I ached all over, I had to go into work (busy pharmacy and I was currently training people) and I didn't even brush my hair it hurt too much. When you get the flu, you will KNOW you have the flu.

Thanks, ladies. Yah - Knock on wood.  I've gotten the flu shot for as long as I can remember and I haven't had a flu in years.  (I know the shots only *help* prevent the flu, but they've worked in my case!) I've forgotten what the flu even feels like.  DD totally has the cold and I'm days behind her.  We're both miserable because - at her age my stage of pregnancy - we are quite limited in remedies.  We're loving orange juice and peppermint candies these days!
