First names to go with middle name James?

This list includes 3 of my husband's top picks and 3 of mine. Unfortunately, they aren't the same... Lol. Our baby boy's middle name will definitely be James after my husband. I would like a strong first name that isn't one that everyone has, but is still following recent trends somewhat. Potential nicknames are also listed.

I like Alexander James. It was a name we were going to use until my BIL used it for his son.

Our little guy's name is Logan James. James is my dad's name and I really wanted to use it as a middle name.

So all you Alexander fans might have swayed me a little bit... lol. This was originally on my husband's top 3 list and now I am kind of crushing on it. However, finally saying it out loud with my last name made me wonder... Does a first and last name that both end in "er" sound good? My last name is Graszer, so the full name would be Alexander (Xander) James Graszer.

I'd nix it on the -er last name. My last name ends in -er so we automatically rule out pretty much all first names that end in -er, but that was our preference.

I agree w/bootsiebabe - Alexander would have gotten my vote until I saw this. I think that also takes Xavier off the list - that is just too much of a mouthful with your LN.

On the same note (as much as I like the name), Grayson might be a little too much alliteration with your last name, especially with the "Gra" at the start of both.

I always get thrown by thinking about the sound of the name as a whole (first, middle, last), but for the most part, he will only be known by the first and last name together.

James is hard in the sense that almost anything you put in front of it can be shortened down easily. We were going to do James at the middle name at first as well but then we fell in love with a J name for the first name and didn't like the idea of people calling him "J.J" so that is something else to keep in mind. People will likely call him "A.J" , "C.J" "L.J"... So if you are having a hard time picking, it might be helpful to come up with all the potential nick names he might pick up and make sure he likes those too!
