my first years- mipump

So, I've finally got myself a double electric pump after finding that it is covered by my insurance plan. However, the only pump that was covered 100% was the Mipump from The First Years. I'd never heard of it, but decided to give it a try. I've only used it once. It is definitely a lot different than my Avent single electric. I guess I'm just wondering if anyone has used it before and can tell me how it compares to others... I can't really tell if i like it yet and am trying to decide whether or not to shell out $170 and upgrade to a Medela pump since I have heard a lot of feedback (mostly positive) about that brand.

  • Do you have other options? I haven't heard good things about that pump.

I am getting the Hygeia Q through my insurance.

  • yikes. i've been reading some reviews. seems about 50/50. some people like it, some hate it. very few LOVE it. Money's tight, but i may just have to suck it up and get a better one. we shall wait and see how it goes...

  • I used the single electric for 3 months EPing without a single issue. But I know others have had problems with this pump. I have for this go round, but I'm mostly EBFing and will be weaning in the next few months so the little I spent on the pump got me far. If you are planning to use the pump a ton maybe saving for the more expensive is the way to go...
  • I've never used it. If you're going to be pumping a lot, I'd upgrade. You may be able to find a Medela new in box on Craigslist or somewhere, too, since I think some people are getting pumps through insurance that they won't use, then selling them.
