Is this worth getting checked?

On Saturday I noticed a small redish area on the upper left side of my left nipple. It's just on the outside of the areola. It doesn't feel warm to the touch and it doesn't hurt. I dont notice any changes in supply either. I do use a shield and we are trying to wean from it. I leave it on only long enough for LO to pull my nipple out then I take it off and she seems to do just fine.
Since its just a little red area I don't know if its worth getting checked or if it could be from weaning from the shield.

If it's not bothering you, I personally wouldn't worry about it. It's probably just a little irritated from weaning from the shield. Just keep an eye on it, you know?
