10mo - wakes up 1x @ night and naps are HORRIBLE!!!

Hubby and I decided to sleep train our son at 7 months using the Ferber method.  Everything went exceptioanlly well (he never cried for more than 10 mins) and we have had no problems putting him to bed at night since.  He goes to bed at 730 every night and wakes up at 5am when I am getting ready for work.  However, he still wakes up at 230am like clockwork and can not put himself back to sleep.  If he wakes up at any other time, he sucks his thumb, rolls over and falls back asleep.  But 230 ALWAYS requires one of us to rub his back for a few mins.

Additionally, he will not nap longer than 30 mins at home.  He is in day care and takes two 1.5-2 hour naps a day, but when he is home, I am lucky if I can get him to sleep 30 mins without waking up unless I am holding him.  We tried sleep training for nap time, but it never worked the way the night time sleep training did.

Has anyone else had these problems with an infant that otherwise, sleeps really well?  What did you do?  Did it eventually resolve itself?  I can deal with the 230 back rub, but the nap thing is getting out of hand.  I just wind up having a cranky baby on the weekends.
