LO's current obsessions

What is your lo's current obsession?  DD is currently obsessed with my makeup.   Every evening when we get home she goes straight to where ever the makeup bag is.  She knows what it looks like and will search for it.   If she can't find it she grabs my hand and constantly says "pweeaase make make pweeeeaase".   I have some brushes that I thought would appease her but no, she needs them to be in my bag.   We pretend and she puts it on me and I on her and just last night she decided her puppy needed make up as well.

  • Giving treats to our two dogs.  She's constantly asking for a dog treat so that she can give them one.  I usually give them each a treat first, so that way neither of them is completely left out, since she doesn't understand giving one to each of them.  I was impressed this morning though that she hid one of the treats in one of their hollowed out bones, though.

Also, the Duplo set that she received for Christmas.  The most fun part is dumping the full box on the floor.

And lastly, her Babar board book.  I read it four times yesterday.

BFP #1 9/2010 (lost our baby at 21 weeks) BFP #2 8/2011 (ectopic pregnancy) BFP #3 10/2011 (chemical pregnancy) BFP #4 12/2011 (Abigail born 8/15/12) BFP #5 5/2013 (Griffin born 1/23/14 with heart defects, now repaired!)

  • Charlie has been obsessed with her baby doll. She carries it everywhere, feeds it and takes it on walks around the house in it's stroller. The baby is dressed in all pink, but for some reason she calls it "Baby Santa". She's also obsessed with baths. If we don't tell her it's bath time on time, she will shriek "bath time" over and over as loud as she can and run for the bathroom.

  • Ellie's obsessed with holding hands. She'll demand, "Han." to DD1 and they'll walk/run around the kitchen island for like 20 minutes.

She also loves singing and doing the movements to songs like Head, Shoulders, Knees, & Toes and Itsy Bitsy Spider.

As for books, she sickly obsessed with Brown Bear.

  • Babies.  She's been really interested in real babies and started pretending her stuffed animals were babies - holding them, rocking them in her chair, feeding them, giving them drinks, etc.  For her birthday, one of my friends had given her an actual baby doll and I had kept it in the closet until she showed an interest in dolls.  Well, when she was sick last week I got it out as a special treat and she LOVES that baby!  She walks around all day feeding baby the bottle, going "Baby.  Bottle."

She just likes to be a little mommy.  If she's eating in her high chair and she can see one of her stuffed animals, she will motion for me to give her the animal so she can "share" her food.  It's adorable.
  • @Cedenton - it only mildy helps.   Like other PP's if she has her baby or anything she will still be under my feet the second I try to make dinner, wash clothes, and most importantly go to the bathroom.   I always laughed at my mom for saying she never got to pee in peace but I can now relate.   Some days she just sits at the door screaming becuase ZOMG Mom has to pee dangit!

  • Books. Omg, the books. She will make you read the same ones a hundred million times until I hide them.
  • COLORING. Books. The same book over and over. Running around the dining room table saying "I'm gonna get you" so I'll chase her. Elmo. Elmo books, stuffed animals, anything red. Giving her cat and dog treats.

  • Socks and shoes. She loves to put them on, take them off - herself or someone else. Some nights I can lay on the couch and let her put socks on me for almost 20 minutes...lol.

Also, the little mustard bottle that she got in a play food set. She acts like she's pouring it in a pot or cup and then "eats"it with a spoon or pretends it's lotion.
  • another vote for boobs, here. i hear lots of "boobies? boobies?" and then "BOOOOOBIIIIEEEESSSSSSSSS!!!" if i try to take them away before DS is done.

the broom: he grabs it and says "sweep sweep."

balls: he has a mini basketball, soccer ball and football, and he just likes carrying them around, mostly.

cars: he points out every car he sees and says "car! vroom vroom"

shoes: he likes to put on our shoes and try to walk around with them.

and omg, PHONES: real phones for button mashing, but he also pretends every rectangular object is a phone, and he holds whatever it is to his hear and says "hi daddy!"

  • Shoes. She loves to wear them, point to them, eat them, hold them.

The remote control. We have a ridiculous amount of remotes that we try to hide and she giggles maniacally when she gets one. We took the batteries out of an old one that is now hers. She doesn't watch much tv but when she does she sits with the remote pointed at the screen.

  • Anything with wheels. Even if it's small he will sit on whatever it is, and try to ride on it. Today it was a Little People Buzz Lightyear spaceship. He had it upside down, sat on it, and yelled CHOOO CHOOOOO!
  • The babies obsession doesn't really distract her from me - she always wants me to help her feed the baby and put it in the crib.  Or she puts the baby in her crib and then needs me to get it out.  Or the baby's head twists around and I have to twist it back.

Just now she is super obsessed with Spot books, too.  I just ordered three new ones from Better World Books.
  • Everything she isn't supposed to have.

Books and music- her xylophone has been with her for a week straight. She drags it around and plays it all day. I think it is from starting music class last week- it sparked her musical creativeness.

Also helping- which is funny because it ends up being more work but it's cute to watch her and  let her think she is helping. She wants to help stir and cook and clean up and do laundry and unload dishes. She's so cute. She's been a great helper lately :)
  • T loves remotes and laptops.

Also, another vote for vacuums. He threw a temper tantrum because we were trying to leave (of course) and he wanted to vacuum.

  • The cat's effing water dish, specifically dunking her plastic tiger into it. I can't get her to stop! And I can't even be mad at her - when I suspect she's in there giving the ole' tiger his bath I always yell Evie! and go into the kitchen, and as soon as she sees me she pulls her tiger out, points to him and yells nonononono! And then kind of shrugs and smiles. It kills me every time - I love that girl so much.
