Pumping for bottles question

DD BFs in the morning around 7am. I then pump and get enough for her first bottle at 10am. She gets a second bottle around 1:30. Do I need to pump twice after my morning pump to replace those bottles? Or can I count my 7:30 pump as the pump for the 10am bottle and then pump again around 12:30 to replace the 1:30 bottle? I just started back to work and my job is making pumping very difficult. I have an outside sales job and have to pump in my car, between meetings. There isn't always enough time at 10 and 1:30 to pump.

You should be making sure to pump the same number of ounces your baby will taking. If it isn't at exactly the same time as your baby will drink it that is ok, as long as you are pumping the same number of times / same amount so that your supply won't decrease. You also don't want to go too long in between pumps so that you don't become engorged and painful.

  • Good luck with the transition back to work. I only pump twice at work, and an early morning pump at 5am to get the amount I need for the day. They are nowhere near the times she tales her 3 bottles, but that's what I'm limited to with my teaching schedule. It works fine for me, and I have no issues nursing on demand on the weekends. GL!
