DS gets hyped up after a bath. We've tried the lavender bath wash, lights low, but when he gets out he is a crazy little man, runs around the house, gets all of his toys out...
Where is my SS?? She gets one when she needs it. Not every day closer to every other day. If we are going out for the day then she has one in the morning. If she gets dirty during the day then she has one in the evening after dinner.

If we give her a bath, it's in the evening before bed. Many times she just showers with us instead during the day. We don't shower/bathe her every day, usually every 3 days.
Like your DS, my son seems to get more jazzed up after a bath (at least when he was younger), so we do his bath during the day. Plus, there is so much to do in the evenings that I just can't see how we can fit bath time in.
I bathe DS once during the week (Tue or Wed) and I usually do it in the afternoon after his first or second nap.
DH bathes DS once on the weekend (Sat or Sun) and he usually does it in the morning before first nap. Sometimes he does it in the afternoon.

Always in the evenings, but it is only 2-3x per week. She does seem to get hyped up, we take her straight to her room, dry her off, and let her play around with the lights dim. We don't have very stimulating toys in there and it doesn't take long before she gets sleepy.
This is us, almost exactly. Stella gets her bath around 6:30, then we take her to her room to put pjs on. She is always super excitable during her bath/pjs, but then I pick her up, turn off her light, and take her to daddy for goodnight hugs and kisses. Then we walk back into her dark room and she rubs her eyes and goes to sleep, even though she was squawking a minute before.
Every night, but i only wash his hair every other day. Afterwards I let him play for a little bit in the living room because that's when daddy gets home.
