So dh and I have been arguing about the way to spell Reece for a boy. Neither of us like the spelling Rhys. I'd post this in the name board but I trust my fellow June '14 mommys opinions more.
If we have a boy, his name will be Rhys. I know some people are going to wonder how to pronounce it. DS name is Declan and people can't figure that out either.
@Mtzwilson not one bit! Its a family surname on my side that we passed down. It has been flipped as a girl name down here. I actually have a hard time seeing boys named it but I realize it was originally a boy name.
(FWIW, another thread about Rhys popped up one time and I was shocked at how many people thought it could be pronounced like "rice" lol. I never thought people would make that mistake but apparently some people do. So yeah, you might have to correct people if you were to go with that spelling, but I still personally prefer it a million times more than Reece or Reese.)
Rhys is my preference because it is the original spelling and the most masculine looking. The other two options look feminine to me. I guess Reece is the better of the two.
I wanted to use Reese for a girl, but we found a different name that we both liked better. Still love the name! I think the Reece looks more boy-ish... no reason why really.
We are due June 9 and plan to name our baby boy Reece. He is named after my Grandpa (who passed away several years ago). His last name was Reece. So, our baby's first name will be Reece and his middle name will be Mitchell after my husband's grandpa. I like the easy spelling of "Reece." Of course I'm a K5 teacher& the hard to understand spellings drive me crazy. Haha
Reece for sure. Rhys doesn't look like a name, and I think people would constantly mispronounce it. I read it like Rye-s, as in the bread with an s on the end. And Reese to me makes me think of the candy.

This LO will be Rhys! We debated a lot on the spelling but finally decided we liked the original spelling better. I also feel like the Rhys spelling might 'age' a little better than the simplified Reece spelling....if that makes any sense I too still worry about him having to correct people all the time, however, a lot of seemingly simple names get messed up all the time.
Re: How would you spell it?
FWIW, I have a pretty common name and I still have to correct people fairly frequently.
our cat a girl and her name is Reese
However, for boys I see it most popularly spelled as Rhys
Rhys for sure.
