Would you say something?

So, today I pick my 9 month old up from day care and she's already not feeling good.  I sit down on the floor to give her some love and she smells like a 2 dollar whore.  This happened on Friday, too.  I know which teacher it is and she's only in the wobbler room a couple days a week, if that.  But why does she have to where perfume when she works around a bunch of other women and babies?  I am very sensitive to perfume and it gives me a headache.  I literally scrubbed DD's head 4 times on Friday and you could still smell it.  I also can't imagine it's good for DD to smell that all day, especially when the stench is stuck to her like glue.  I will probably tell the director tomorrow about it.  Would you say something?

Re: Would you say something?

  • I would. Im like you. Im sensitive too most perfumes and i only wear it sparingly. Strong perfume gives me migranes and since i dont know if bentley gets migranes like my family id be pissed if one of my triggers was all over and around my lo.

Also, id be worried this person is smoking. When i was a teen and hidingthe fact i was a smoker from my parents id wear an asanine amount of perfume.

My boyfriends bm does this when she actually sees bfs ds. She thinks it makes the third hand smoke go away. The third hand smoke that has given c some bad ear infections

  • I would say something. I, too, am very sensitive to smells. There was a chick at the daycare DD I nicknamed the glitter bomber. I mentioned it to the director and she talked to her about it.

  • I would absolutely say something, especially if it gives you a headache. The infant room should be a fragrance-free zone, IMO.

  • Hey I didn't even think about the smoking thing.  Good point!

I was actually thinking last night that the next time it happens I will ask for soap and a washcloth before I put DD's coat on and wash her head right there.  When they ask what I'm doing I'll just tell them.  If it continues then I will tell the director.  I also agree that the infant rooms should be fragrance-free.  This chick is the only one I've noticed it with.  She's also the one who can't seem to get the (very small) 2 year old in DDs room to stop standing up in the wooden rocking chair they have.  I think we know how that's going to turn out.
  • Two year olds arent dumb haha they know who means buisness and who doesnt.

I think thats a diplomatic way to handle things. Also those dryer sheets should help get the smell of perfume off her clothes. That was what i did to get my xh bad cologne off my clothes

  • Most workplaces have official or unofficial rules against perfume wearing, especially if its something dealing with patients or the public. I'm surprised no ones complained about her before. I agree you should say something if your diplomatic approach doesn't work.
  • @lamuehlen  the glitter bomber got her nickname because she would put on an explosion of glitter before coming into her work (the fucking daycare) and then handle all the infants all day, thus bombing all the little babies with glitter.  For a long time, I was blaming someone else and got into fights about getting glitter on DD until I met this girl at daycare.  She was a part timer, and I didn't meet her (or maybe I never noticed her) until about 2 months of DD going to daycare. She quit/got fired because the argument between her and the director regarding her glitter got VERY heated for some reason.  I don't think the director liked her, and I think she knew that. LOL. Whatever, she's gone and DD is glitter free!!!

  • Was the glitter bomber fucking kesha? Or a fan of kesha?

  • She had the fashion sense of a new age raver. So, it's a possibility. LOL

  • I'd say something. I'm picky about the LO and don't give a darn who knows it.
