Workhorses after the newborn stage?

I loved my orange edge workhorses when baby girl was a newborn. Now that she is outgrown them I miss them so much! I love fitteds and am thinking about investing in some sized small workhorses. Are they still great past the newborn stage or is there a better fitted that you all love that isn't going to cost my $16+ each. If they are that amazing I would consider the cost just will only be able to get 2 instead of 6 or 7. Oh I almost forgot I have 2 size small Sbish fitted that I love but man oh man are they expensive!

Re: Workhorses after the newborn stage?

  • Workhorses are all I use! I looove them. I've heard that you can skip a size, go straight from nb to medium and skip small, or small to large and skip medium if you dont mind some extra bulk. I really cant say enough good things about them. I know they are simple, but they clean so easily and are not as expensive as other fitteds.

  • I love my larges for naps. I've even used them in a pinch with a hemp doubler for overnight.

  • I really like these esbaby fitteds and I think they are reasonably priced.

You used to be able to get them from jillians drawers, but they don't seem to carry them anymore.

  • Yes I love my large workhorses. Absorbent, leakproof, and easy to get on my wiggly worm!

I was going to skip small in the prefolds and get a dozen med to stuff her 4.0s with and use on her. I think I will order 1 small and 1 med workhorse and see which one I like better and order more. Baby girl is 11 pounds 6 oz right now and I think the med workhorses might be ridiculously big but I'm not sure and if I can skip a size and make my money go further well then wahoo :)

  • If you want to skip a size in workhorses, get no closure ones, not snaps.

I wouldn't recommend skipping smalls for prefolds if you want to stuff or tri-fold with them. G is 24 pounds and still on the middle rise setting on most of his OS pockets that have three rise adjustments. Red edges don't fit well on the middle rise. Yellow do. Red fits on the biggest rise usually. So yellow actually got used from like 5 months to 15 months for stuffing and trifolding for us.

  • CLLDLL is right - get the small prefolds for pocket stuffing. Mediums only fit if you have the rise of the BG 4.0 fully unsnapped.

  • I really like my Osocozy fitteds, even more than my workhorses. They're only about $7.50 each. They come in 2 sizes so they'll last longer than the workhorses.

  • I have a friend who was able to skip the small and go right to medium, it was bulky for a couple weeks, and then honestly the mediums git for so long and there was only a 2 pound fit difference between the large and extra large that she was able to skip larges and go right to x large.  She funded part of each new purchase by selling the smaller size.

I'd love to try this, but if this next baby is anywhere near at thin as my son was It would be a stretch.  But i do agree if you get snapless and use a snappi, you might be able to pull it off.

  • i'm a fan of the workhorses well past nb stage! my LO is just about outgrowing his mediums (red edge) and can fit into the larges (brown edge). the resale value on them is great too, so something to consider. go for it!
