Which type/brand of cups for smoothies?

Since last week, I started making smoothies for DS as a snack.  I've been using our OXO sippy cup (w/o the valve) and it was working just fine.  Today, however, I made him a peach smoothie and it is grainier, so the smoothie clogs up all the holes.

I have a regular straw (taken from a restaurant) so I put the straw directly in the smoothie and gave it to DS, but he couldn't figure out how to use it properly (he kept grabbing it and bending it).  He does use a straw cup for water, but it is the Nuby one with valve, so I guess it feels different?

I ended up spoon-feeding him the smoothie, which took forever and left a huge mess.  I need a better system!  What works for your LOs and what doesn't?

  • The take and toss cups are the best, I think--the straws are like regular straws and are really wide. I would just keep trying with that and I'm sure he'll get used it it!

  • We have been working with DS to use regular straws. A few restaurants that we go to have regular straws with a plastic cup and lid, DS sees his cousin use that and he wants to use it too.  So far so good with the regular straw.  We just bought a born-free straw cup, it seems to have a more realistic straw feel to it.  https://tinyurl.com/puqhunt
