What happened is, I ripped that one off to replace it with a new one and the new one DOESN'T FIT.

They either custom fit this POS or did it because they knew they would really piss me off.

So now i have to hire someone to grind the bar down so it can fit.

I am not happy.

All you need is an angle grinder to cut it down. Some hardware stores rent power tools if you don't want to buy one. They'll tell you what grit to use for your particular material.

I realize this @Mabelshesabiotch.  But I do ALL of the condo association repairs and normally on my own (funny thing is ALL of the other people in the building are men).  

I do not have a car to go rent or buy a grinder for this project, I do not feel like standing in 20 degree weather doing this project and I'm not fucking getting paid to do any of this and if I want to hire someone to do this, I'll hire someone to do this.  (It's a condo association project)

It was supposed to be funny because I literally taped the fucking thing back on, but obviously you took this to whole different level.

The new mailbox doesn't fit in the hole where the old one was.  They must have done something to custom fit that old one because ALL mailboxes require a 17 3/4 inch hole, where as we have 17 1/2.  I talked to welder and he says that the standard has been the same for at least the past 10 years.  Our mailbox is only 5 years old.

And I get it, I am choosing to take on this responsibility.  But as a homeowner, I can't allow the outside of the condo to crumble around me. I have to make sure to keep my property value up.  It would be stupid not to.

Not right now.  We are a young association and our building was only rehabbed, so some of the outside, including the roof, might need repaired or replaced soon (which is going to cost us a ton).  We want to keep our assessments low, while banking as much as we can.  That's why we do all of our own snow removal as well.  Which the guys actually do chip in on that end.

And overall, this wouldn't be such a big issue, but when it snows, our mail gets destroyed because the lock is broken on the old one.  And if I wasn't leaving for vacation on Saturday, I'd be able to take care of this on the weekend.  It's just tough for me to get stuff done during the week.
