Best Leap Frog Learning to Read toy?

I am confused by all of the different ones. Does anyone have one that they think is good for a 3 yr. old? My son is very interested in "reading" all by himself. He holds the book and I read or he recites it from memory. He is pointing out words and asking what does this word say, etc? I think he would benefit from one of the reading toys that highlights the word and says it or helps make a word association. There are so many Leap Frog things that I don't know what is best for him at this age. Any input is appreciated. TY!

  • I don't know what is the best one for you, and I don't veen know what all is out there, but I can tell you about our experience.  Someone got my 2 year old a LeapReader Junior for Christmas, and she plays with the tag part like it's one of her little people.  Occasionally, she wants to sit with DH or I and use it with a book like it was meant to be, but it looks like a toy, so she treats it like one.  We've had better luck just pointing out words and letters for her as we're reading bedtime stories.

But she's young yet.  You might have better luck with your 3 year old.

  • We got the LeapReader Junior for our two year old as well, and she loves it. It doesn't highlight the words like the big kid ones do, though.
