Rolling and swaddle

LO STTN in a halo sleepsack with swaddle and started rolling back to belly today! She hasn't rolled belly to back yet so I haven't even thought about weaning from the swaddle. I don't think that she would roll to her belly while swaddled, but I'm just not sure. I'm worried about putting her in a swaddle tonight, but not sure how she'll sleep without it. Any advice?

I still swaddle I have considered rolling to be back to belly. However, my LO sleeps in a bouncer. She couldn't roll over anyways.

ETA - Don't listen to my original post. I read what you said backwards. If she is rolling back to belly. Definitely do not swaddle anymore!

  • That would make me nervous to swaddle, as I assume her arms are swaddled? Wouldn't she need them to be able to move her head to breathe ok?

  • She needs her arms if she rolls over. It might be time to try without the swaddle.

  • I believe I once read that you should not swaddle once they're rolling back to belly.

  • Mine rolled back to belly while swaddled so dr said no more. She's been sleeping in the RNP since we took off o2 last week so we tried without the swaddle and it actually went just fine!
  • Welp here's to going cold turkey on the swaddle. I think dh and I will take turns watching the monitor tonight as I'm just worried about her being on her belly since she can't roll belly to back. :/
  • FWIW if she rolls over while she's sleeping she'll likely wake herself up and squawk. I don't swaddled since mine also can roll, but it's been 3 weeks and she hasn't rolled in her sleep.

  • Thanks everyone! She slept without the swaddle last night, didn't roll to her belly and still STTN. Lucky mom right here!
