Re: --**3rd Party Reproduction Check-In Jan. 12th **--

  • Hi all!
First off, thanks to @JM1977 for the shout out last week! The check-in does take some time to do each week, but I think it keeps us very connected as a group and is totally worth it! :)

@Mrs.McIrish - super big hugs to you. I cannot imagine the frustration of all these cycles, and it is hard to accept that it's likely an undetectable sperm issue. And, no commentary on DH - but I am also just bummed DS isn't an option; I understand but it makes me sadder for you. :(

@pooniki - I'm super bummed for your BFN. FX for your next try, but I imagine you are getting tired and with good reason. Hang in there. :(

    Check-In:
I hate to complain because I am so happy this baby is making its presence known, but I feel so rotten! I get a few serious waves of nausea/headaches everyday but I never know when its going to hit me. I'm also having terrible smell sensitivity and can't eat any meat right now. It is so strange. Every time I tell J I feel ill she says "Good!" - which, in principle I am on board with. I suppose the upside is I haven't been as worried that the baby is gone. The downside is I'm eating a lot of cereal, cheese, nuts and crackers.

Also, I made an appointment with a counselor who specializes in fertility issues and loss for Tuesday. I'm actually feeling a little better in the PAGL sense, but still feel like a professional will add some clarity and perspective. Can't hurt. I have my next MFM appt. on Wednesday at 9w, u/s included which will be reassuring to see. Then, NT scan and Mat21 on 1/31 at 11w2d!

I'm thrilled to only have 10 more days of progesterone suppositories 3x/day and estrogen patches every other day! Soon, I'll be down to only my vitamins and Lovenox shot!

QOTW: Well, realistically for me right now, Maui sounds great. That is our go-to as it's a direct easy flight from Seattle and we just scored $340 RT tickets to go for our 1 year wedding anniversary in April! When we are there, we tend to be super lazy, read by the ocean, see some nature, etc. but if all goes as planned this time, I'll be 23 weeks, so I expect lots of laziness!
    Lil'mamaz was born on Aug 21, 2014! She's PERFECT!

  • Check-In: Hi Ladies, Thanks for the welcome. I've been a bit MIA for the last week on TB with work being so crazy but I'm going to try and be better this week! Hope all is well.   I've been better when it comes to our GC journey.  We found out a couple weeks ago that we can attempt IVF at least once before having to go the GC route, which is HUGE for us.  We always wanted to try at least one more time so we are really happy with this development. My medication taper is going great and I'm about 10 days away from being off the med I need to be off before we can start TTC/IVF again.  We are looking at a March start date-- FX! But on the GC front our friend who had initially offered now has pulled out and said she isn't willing to do it. I was devastated.  Even though we want to do this on our own, they were our only viable option for a GC and without that offer we won't ever be able to afford a GC if our journey takes us there.  I just feel this weight pressing down on me to be successful and with my lupus there is really nothing I can do to make it happen if my body won't let it happen.  I don't know how I am going to be with this person going forward because I feel this is so cruel for her to offer and then pull it back.  It's because her DH is "worried about how the hormones will affect me".  What I felt like saying is "it's more like your DH is worried how you being PG again will impact him."  He's such a f-ing selfish bastard and takes her for granted but obviously it's not my place to say that so I just tightly smiled and said I understood. Then I got home from dinner and cried to my DH about how awful it was to have to act like it was ok.  I don't know if we will ever be the same.  Anyway, wow, I think I needed to get that out.  Thanks for reading.
QOTW: We really want to go back to St. Lucia for more than a day and spend a nice relaxing get away there. It was so beautiful and I can't wait until we are able to take that vacation!

  • 2Mamaz--feeling rotten is feeling rotten and it's no fun! :(  I hope you feel totally better, with a couple random things like cravings just to reassure you you're pregnant.  I'm glad you're seeing somebody about your loss because it's nice to have these things as a natural aid to grief and difficult times, rather than as a last resort once things are really bad.  When I was 14 I wanted to see a counselor, but my parents discouraged me and although things turned out okay I feel now that it'd have been better if they'd let me go and not been so afraid of it.  Oh, and yes *thank you* for the check-in!

sammer--that's great that things are moving forward, and woo-hoo to unexpected coverage!

firesiren--I know you're nervous, but I hope it's at least a little cool that you're a regular ole pregnant lady now!  Good luck on Thursday :)

xmaystartx--fingers crossed for a batch of great blasts!  It's really lame that they snuck in an immature egg, hopefully it won't end up mattering but if it does you should let them know you're not happy--perhaps they will replace it or compensate you somehow.

social--my heart is aching for you.  I am so sorry your friend backed out.  I can't believe this wasn't all discussed and decided on beforehand.  I hope your friendship survives.  But maybe your IVF will work and it won't matter :)

Lacyj--ugh, doesn't sound like a ball of fun.  You may be the only one cycling this month but you'll have the whole board behind you!

AFM, nothing.  I am in the midst of a big work bruhaha which is not likely to die down in the immediate future, and since the clinic isn't contacting me anyway, I don't plan on reaching out to schedule something until it does.  Eventually they will probably figure out that I never received my compensation for donating in November and seek me out.
  • @Lacyj67 I was in Serbia this past summer visiting family and if I had more time off of work I would of loved to go visit Croatia again!

I was in Dubrovnik, Mostar, Zagreb and Split but that was when I was 18. Too long ago :)

Just trying to get everything (more like everyone) in line for our February transfer. DH and I are making calls over the next couple of days to: RE (to confirm the calendar for our gestational carrier), lawyer (taking forever with our contract), insurance, and stupid anesthesia place that didn't run our insurance in August for IVF #3 and only has automated service when you call and never calls you back.
I swear, the treatment stuff is hard enough but all this up keep with people who don't do their own dam$ jobs drives me batty. Like another full time job.

First day back for spring semester for me! Here's to hoping the students are ready!

@sammer - so exciting!!! hoping to be cycle buddies with you (and FX, "pregnant" IM with you!)!
That would be amazing if we could do this all at the same time. FX your lawyers get on their horse and get the contact written/signed/finalized ASAP!

  • @Manada just gave our update. The cycle is starting to feel more real now that we've start lupron. Last time we just did antagonist with no down-regulation, so this is new for me. I'm starting to feel a bit warm inside, but I don't know if that's just psychosomatic cause I'm on this board right now and thinking about the potential side effects of lupron. I don't know how quickly hot flashes come or what they feel like. But I have a feeling I might find out.

I have just started getting into an exercise routine and, while I'm "excited" to start stims soonish, I'm not thrilled about the recommended activity reduction to accommodate (hopefully) swelling ovaries.

I've been doing high protein/low carb again since the start of the BCPs a week ago (after taking a few weeks off after we were cancelled and over the holidays).

QOTW: M has got me on the Hawaii bandwagon. I've never been. I would love to go, but unfortunately we live in Toronto not Seattle, so we can't get great ticket prices. M and I haven't been on a vacation of more than 4 days in the 3 years we've been together other than road trips to Chicago to visit my family, which aren't actually a vacation. And we haven't been anywhere warm together. We'd both love to go, but right now everything we can scrape together is going to fertility costs and savings for an increased parental leave for M. (I'm doing my PhD and M is the main income earner, so we need to have savings to make up for any additional time she takes off work.) Maybe if we get pregnant and stay pregnant this cycle, we'll be able to put a piece of our tax return towards taking a little "babymoon," but I don't know if that will end up being the case or not.
    ****loss discussed*****

We're queer. I'm 33, have severe stage 4 endo, and had both fallopian tubes removed. My love ("Manada" on the boards, 32) was diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve. We did Partner IVF (my eggs, her uterus). We lost our twins Tavin and Casey at 21 weeks gestation.

    Our IUIs
with @Manada: IUI# 1-7 (December 2012- September 2013) all BFN. Tried natural, femara, clomid, puregon/follistim, clomid and menopur combo, both the ovidrel and HCG triggers.

    Our IVFs:
IVF #1 my eggs November/December 2013: Cancelled IVF due to poor response

    IVF #2 my eggs/Manada's uterus January/February 2014
BCPs and lupron overlap Stimmed: 1/22-2/2: Bravelle and Menopur (dosage ranged from B300 and M150 to B375 and M150 to B300 and M225)
2/4 retrieved 10 eggs. Endo was much worse than expected. Only 3 eggs fertilized; February 7 transferred two day 3 embryos, froze one. All great condition.
    BFP eve of 6dp3dt; Beta 1 (11dp3dt): 110; Beta 2 (13dp3dt): 175; Beta 3 (15dp3dt): 348; Beta 4 (19dp3dt): 2222; Beta 5 (21dp3dt): 4255
    1st ultrasound (3/6  6w 1d): TWINS!!!! Twin A measuring 6w1d with a heartbeat of 118bpm. Twin B measuring 6w0d with a heartbeat of 113bpm.

***July 18, 2014 we lost our beautiful babies at 21 weeks gestation. They were born too early. Tavin Sara T. and Casey Elizabeth T. are beautiful and precious and we will love them and miss them forever.***

    FET #1 December 2014
Intralipid infusion on Dec 10. Transfer of 1 day 3 nine-cell embryo into my uterus on Dec. 19. (acupuncture immediately before and after)
    BFP on Dec. 27; Beta 1 Jan 2 (14dp3dt): 665, Beta 2 Jan 4 (16dp3dt): 1859, Beta 3 Jan 6 (18dp3dt): 4449, Beta 4 Jan 10 (22dp3dt): 12,251.

  • Not much going on here...just waiting for NT scan on Friday and to see if our insurance will cover free cell dna test.

QOTD: I would love to be anywhere sunny and warm with a beach. I feel like this winter on the East Coast has been brutal so far..

8/2011: Diagnosed with ovarian cancer, ovaries and tubes removed

    12/2011: Finished chemo

    5/2013: Cleared for DE IVF

    11/13: DEgg IVF#1

    8/5/14: Grace was born!

  • Check-In: Finally got the results from our A/S ultrasound (our GS had to go back to get more images) and everything looks good! He's actually already almost a full pound! We just traveled up to meet our GS's family and had an amazing time with them.

QOTW: I'm with @Liz4Paws - I've always wanted to go to Tahiti and stay in one of those above water huts! Honestly, anywhere warm where I can chill out and read a book would be great. We're a long time from taking another vacation though!

Check-In: How is it going? Not so good here. Now along with being cancelled because of slow follicle growth, I stimmed past my usual 8 days, and my follicles still kept growing and I now have 2 hug cyst on left ovary. I had 1-12mm& 1 smaller one on right and 3 really small ones on left at time of cancellation.

What are your next steps? All I can do now is wait. I was put on BCP and my prolactin level has gone up to 37 so I am now also on Bromocriptine. I have no symptoms of a person with high prolactin levels, so just a little confused.

How are you feeling? I have been pretty overwhelmed and confused. I know I have been silent, just trying to muster through it all.

QOTW: After so much of the country had terrible weather, coupled with the post-holiday let-down - describe your perfect vacation! I'd love to go back to Italy. I fell in love with Rome.

  • A quick update: we are doing well. We had a rough first few nights at home but last night was wonderful. I think we are starting to get a nice rhythm and able to get more rest. It helps that I can finally lay down in bed to sleep!

QOTD: Rome. We are saving all of our cc miles to take this trip eventually. It will happen..lol.
  • I apologize for the quick post this week... My schedule has been a nightmare because I've been rotating between day and night shifts more than usual this week. Uggggh :((

As always, best of luck to everyone!
    I'm rooting for you all!!!

    ___________________________

Afm- honestly, I'm starting to get really frustrated. Our agency hasn't received our donors medical records yet and it's holding up the process. Our clinic can't schedule her appts until they have this. The agency was closed for 2 weeks over the holidays. We reserved our donor a month ago and I was expecting to have some progress made by this time...

I know many of you have waited much longer than this, so I'm sorry for complaining to you about this, but this is how I feel.

The good news is that our preliminary contract is complete, so I'm hopeful that we can start once our donor can actually get into the clinic.

I'm so tired of feeling this way. We moved quickly to get everything done and paid for on our end; we were hoping it might speed up the process a little....I know I will feel better once we have a calendar. Right now, I am just afraid something will go wrong and we will have to keep waiting.

    Me (32) DOR, elevated NK Cells/ 2 copies of MTHFR mutation/ MH (35) azoo/high DFI   (TTC#1 since 2009)

    IVFs#1-4: (4/10-2/12) all BFN

    Surprise Bfp (9/11) - c/p

    DS IUI#1-2 (9/12, 10/12) - BFN

    DS IVF: (11/12) - BFN

    DE/DS IVF#1: (10/13) - 2 day 3 embies transferred-BFFN

    FET of 2 day 6 blasts: (12/13) - c/p

    DE/DS IVF #2: (4/14) - 1 day 5 blast transferred...BFFN...again.

    FET 5/14: 1 day 5 hatching blast transferred...another BFFN

Repeat SHG 6/14-normal / Endometrial Receptivity Array biopsy 7/14-Receptive Uterus

New RE, additional testing reveals elevated NK Cells

FET of 1 day 5 blast (RE recommends transferring 1 due to elevated NK cells) with lovenox, steroids & intralipids in October

  • Have not had a chance to read everyone's post yet but will when I get a min
Just wanted to add I got my BFP 3dp5dt
    Beta 1/17
Wishing everyone the best of luck always!!!
  • Congrats Doula! That's crazy early.

McIrish, I'm thinking of you today, I hope you get a BFP.

GL to everyone else with upcoming transfers and (((hugs))) to those that need it.

Sorry for the late check-in. I am still waiting for a calendar but I have gotten a few things figured out so figured that deserved an update! I finally got my MFM and RE talking and I will be taking Lovenox starting with transfer. I don't have the blood-clotting disorders (yay!) but my blood thickens considerably more than normal I guess when pregnant so as a precaution we will incorporate the Lovenox and then maybe transition to baby aspirin, depending on how things go. I am hoping for a March transfer (fingers crossed!).

QOTW: I would love to go to Hawaii! We have never been. We both love mountains and beaches so I think Hawaii would give us the best of both. We keep putting it off due to cost and travel time - we will usually go to Colorado once a year as well as Florida once a year. I need to just bite the bullet and plan the trip!

  • @ceemonkey - I'm on Lovenox for similar reasons; it's a preventative dose (40mg/daily) and honestly, it's not a big deal. I read about people doing this whole ritual of the shot - ice, injecting slowly for like 3 min. and ice again. I swab with alcohol, pinch up some fat, and inject. I'd say one or two days a week it burns a little but mostly nbd.

Most Lovenox peeps take baby aspirin alongside it. I'd ask about that. My MFM said BA doesn't thin your blood in a meaningful way, and it's more for its anti-inflammatory qualities. I'm doing both. And, because it's a precautionary dose, my MFM said I can stop anytime I want, but we'll likely go the distance - too afraid to stop, if something happened I couldn't forgive myself.

Book that Hawaii trip! We stay at this place and it's PERFECT: www.hphresort.com :)

  • @2MamazInSeattle - thanks for the tips on the Lovenox! I have heard people talk about how painful it is and I'm not one to be freaked out by shots, but I was kind of dreading the Lovenox because of what I've heard. That's the dose I'll be taking too. She said probably up until 36 weeks if I get that far. I will definitely ask about the BA with it as well.

Thanks for the tip on Hawaii too! I need to just DO IT.

    Hi ladies,
First, I’m sorry I’ve been MIA for several weeks.
At first I was having trouble posting and then things were crazy with the holidays and all.
But I have been reading posts and rooting for all of you from the sidelines…

And I echo what @JM1977 said about my appreciation for all of @2MamazinSeattle’s hard work every week conducting the check-ins!!
I’ve been super excited for all of the recent BFP’s, so I wanted to say congrats to:

    @2MamazinSeattle – Wow, you’re 9 weeks already?
    Where did the time go?
Hope your MFM apt. went well!
@liz4paws – Glad to hear your OB apt. went well and another wow for being 11 weeks, very excited for you!!
@firesiren – Happy to hear about your plain ole pregnant status! I hope your u/s went well yesterday!!
@DoublePortion – Another wow and congrats for being 10 weeks along!!

Fingers crossed for @Mrs.McIrish and your 4BB blast!! and anyone else in the 2WW, as well as my fellow January cyclers, including @Lacyj67, @healz and @Manada!

Special ((hugs)) and a shout out to @BeckyP005, @Km672 and @Sunni01…I know waiting around/getting delayed is beyond frustrating!!

AFM, I’m scheduled for a FET of my last 2 donor egg frosties next Wednesday (1/22).
They are day 6 blasts, so I’m guessing not as good quality as the prior ones that we transferred, which were day 5 blasts, but it is what it is.
I’m beyond nervous and already thinking about a Plan B…but I also want to make sure I give this cycle a fair chance too (and am trying to think positive).
I started Crinone today (what fun, LOL) and also started my antibiotics and Medrol, so it’s feeling more real now.

QOTW: Sad to say, but DH and I haven’t been anywhere in over a year, as I’m still looking for F/T work (I was laid off in May) and we’ve had to scrimp to pay for this FET.
At this point, I would love to go ANYWHERE, even for a long weekend.

  • Hey just checking in!  Waiting for Ovulation and then first insemination will begin!  I'm on a rollercoaster of emotions.  I have a lot of fear.  Praying and reading success stories is helping a lot!  I will be busy cleaning the house today with music on and that should help.  Yoga in the morning to look forward to.
