Still Getting morning sickness at 16 weeks?

So I don't know if anyone else is having this but about once a week I'm getting nausea.
It's getting a little annoying!
I was prescribed zofran to take as needed but I'm a little hesitant to take. Has anyone else had this experience or take. Zofran to deal with nausea?
Thanks

  • My all day nausea ended around 11-12 weeks but I am still nauseated in the mornings when I wake up and if I go too long without eating during the day. Try saltines and ginger ale or the vitamin b nausea lozenges if your hesitant to take the meds. I used meds at the start...not zofran, phenegran maybe? I just couldn't function without it.

  • I still have morning sickness as well. I have found that its usually if I wait to long to eat at least something but that isnt always the case. My dr prescribed me Zofran in December but my morning sickness went away for a few weeks so I never got the prescription filled. Then it came back about a week before my next appointment and when I went to the dr I had lost more weight. She mentioned my weight loss but wasn't worried about it. She did say that there is very new information about Zofran causing birth defects and that she is telling patients to not take it unless they absolutely must. She had prescribed something else that she said would make me sleepy so to take at night but it was still a category C. Basically after her saying that I'm just toughing it out. Trying my best to eat more small meals and its helping now for the most part. I tried that before but it didn't help but I guess since its not as bad now it does help.

  • My all day nausea seemed to end right at 16 weeks, but has been replaced by afternoon and evening acid reflux which leads to nausea. I was taking zofran through the first 16 weeks (and still vomiting at least once a week) and now taking another anti-nausea med called reglan to help with the acid reflux nausea.

  • I'm still taking meds for the nausea every day because otherwise I puke in the morning and then feel like puking the rest of the day.  I started underweight, so I can't afford not to eat.  The doc's fine with it, and why put myself through that if I don't have to?

  • I am 19 weeks and still wake up feeling sick. My Ob said that zofran is safe to take for the duration of the entire pregnancy. I have been taking it from the beginning and have only threw up once at home and a few times on a road trip because of motion sickness. I take the pill a few minutes before getting out of bed and am good for the rest of the day. Sometimes the sick feeling stays with pregnant women throughout the entire pregnancy! Mine did with my first.
  • Yup. I couldn't handle the traditional anti-nausea meds because they tore up my tummy. I started taking Unisom and it's life changing. LIFE. CHANGING! You can take a 25mg pill 2x per day but I'd start with one before bed and see how you feel.

  • Awesome great info...thank you ladies!
  • About every other day, still throwing up, even on meds.

If you're nervous about Zofran, you could ask your doctor about diclectin. It's the anti-nausea drug doctors prescribe here (in Canada), not sure if it's available in the States. I believe it's not as strong as Zofran, so it doesn't work for everyone, and if your nausea is severe, you may need to take it up to three times a day.

  • I just finally got over my nausea a week ago--I was 18.5 weeks at that point.  Had been taking phenergan daily, although it didn't always seem to do much.  The worst hit around 14 weeks when I was still dealing with nausea and reflux kicked.  Now I'm just maintaining on prevacid, but feeling SO much better.  Hang in there--a couple weeks ago I was in your shoes and convinced that it wasn't going to end until the kids came out.  Hope you feel better soon!
