Cerclage question

How long did any of you ladies bleed/or have pinkish spotting after cerclage placement? I had my cerclage put in 5 days ago, and still light pink spotting. No pain/cramping, just the spotting. Is this normal?

I think so.  I had mine put in on a Thursday and I know I still had some spotting on Sunday, but I cannot remember if it went longer than that.  As long as it's only light pink, I wouldn't worry too much.  I think some people's cervix is just more sensitive.  I've had pelvic exams which caused no spotting, and I've had others that made me cramp and spot for days.  If you're really worried though, a quick call to your doctor would put your mind at ease.

I had mine placed on a Monday. I'm pretty sure that by Wednesday I had completely stopped bleeding. I was back at work on Thursday. If it hasn't stopped soon, I'd call my dr just to be sure.

I never bled after leaving the hospital. BUT, my MFM told me that if I did bleed pink for days (or even weeks) it could be normal and due to the blood vessels around the cervix getting irritated at the foreign object.

Absolutely check in with your doc, but try not to worry yourself too much

I'm 30 wks 4 days right now but so far it's all going well.  My cervix never got below 4cm so I haven't needed bedrest.  But I am on full pelvic rest and I really don't do much besides walking, and even that is very minimal just because I am so tired.

I spotted off and on through most of my pregnancy.  My OB explained that my cervix was irritated by the stitch.  I did not dilate at all and delivered at 38 weeks (2 weeks after the stitch was removed).

Spotting is not necessarily a sign of trouble, but is definitely worth discussing with your doctor if it continues.  When's your next appointment?

My next appt is Friday. It's definitely not red bleeding, it's similar to my regular pregnancy discharge, except its light pink. I can remember the nurses saying that it was normal to have bleeding after, I just wasn't sure how long. I'm not too worried about it, just good to hear others experiences. Also, they never told me I needed to be on strict bedrest, bit I can't help bit think that bedrest is somehow helpful. I have put myself on bedrest, and will continue to stay on it until my follow-up Friday. Does anyone else feel this way?

I had mine placed on a Friday and I think my spotting stopped after a few days. My drs all said it was normal an it sound like yours is pretty minimal and most likely caused by cervix irritation. Definitely discuss it with your dr on Friday. As for bedrest I have never been on it, just modified activity. I took it super easy for the week following my cerclage, but since then I have resumed pretty normal activity (still on total pelvic rest).

I spotted for a couple days, but it went away fairly quickly. I had a weird pinching feeling for a week or two after, and nothing since. I had my cerclage out on Monday at 36+5.
