DD is 9.5 months and understands hello/hola, goodbye/adios (waves for both), hands up/down, bottle/leche, kisses/besos. There's probably more but those are the ones I'm absolutely sure she understands and reacts to. Oh, and Mama, Papi & Kane (our dog) along with the names for her grandparents.
Thx I'm just wondering if I need to be worried at all. I'll bring this up at our dr's appt in a few weeks. I know he can hear & we talk all the time to him but doesn't know "mommy" or "daddy"
I think (and correct me if I'm wrong), OP means her LO heard the words mommy and daddy, but doesn't connect them to her parents yet (maybe by turning his head to mom or dad and smiling...some form of acknowledgment). My LO is the same way with mommy. He connects daddy to his dad, but doesn't seem to yet get that I'm mommy:) probably because I talk about daddy to him during the day while he's at work..when we hear the garage I say, "daddy's home!" Probably overkill, but daddy seems to be the one person he can connect so far. He understands milk, kitty, yogurt, diaper, car, water, up. Maybe a few others. It's pretty cool watching his vocabulary grow:)

Dd understands doggies, and their names, mommy, daddy, all done, kiss, hug, hi, bye, more, all done, cracker, cereal, milk, drink. She has learned a lot of this from baby signing. At 10.5 she says momma and dadda.
My 9.5 month old understands mama dada hello goodbye grandma aunt kitty puppy bite drink milk bottle up belly button nose hat kisses and more. I wouldn't worry too much and just keep working with you LO and point at yourself and say mama a lot. My LO has learned a lot in the past month so it comes fast! Best thing to do is talk A LOT!
Re: Understanding words
She is starting to understand- hungry/food, diaper, grandma and grandpa and some other relatives first names, hug
