Pregnant after IF

FET Thaw Question

Hello ladies... I was hoping that you girls could help me. I had my FET on Tuesday and before transferring they informed me that my embryo survived the thaw but lost 30% of its cells. This worried me and the embryologist seemed iffy and was not giving me direct answers to my questions. I asked to talk to my doc, and she said it was fine and she recommended transferring that one. So I did. I am 4dp and I feel nothing and I think with my last positive I had felt something by now. So I am starting to think it did not work.

So my question is for those of you who did a FET, did your embryo lose any cells? If so how many? And if this cycle is a bust what would you set your threshold for?

Thanks!! And I hope and pray I can join your girls soon.

Re: FET Thaw Question

  • My FET did not lose cells in fact they picked right up and was dividing while waiting for me.

I did not feel anything however before my positive test, so I wouldn't be too worried :)

  • I don't believe either of my FETs lost cells, but if your doctor still recommended transferring your embie then I would trust your doctor's advice.  I've never felt anything before a positive test either.  Even after a BFP it took some time for me to have any symptoms.  I know it's impossible not to worry, but try to distract yourself if you can.
Keeping my fx for you!  Hope to see you over here in a few days!

  • No advice but I wanted to say HI!!!! And that I'm praying for you!!
  • I don't recall them saying mine lost cells but that one wasn't really expanding as much as they had hoped. I don't know if that's the same thing.
Hoping for good things to come your way- I don't think I felt anything until like 6 weeks when I would only get a tiny bit queasy. No bloating or cramping or anything until well after that.

The Science Babies debuted 5/6/14 @ 34 weeks
  • I transferred 2 that were thawed and then they hatched after thawing so I don't think any cells were lost. Was yours a blast? You really shouldn't feel anything 4 days after transfer either.
  • I transferred two, one lost five percent of its cells and one lost zero. My re said the avg. For them is losing 10%. The dr must feel confident if they did the transfer. I also had no real early signs so dont count yourself out yet. Good luck!

  • Thanks ladies, I completely trusted my RE's decision to use this one since we had 8 others we could have thawed and she definately told me not to transfer 2 unless we wanted twins because she gave it the same percent that both would attach. I appreciate the advice and was very curious about everyone else. It definately looks like I am in the minority.

@roeni yes it was a blast when frozen, most of mine are blasts (acutely all of them are). Do you think that would make a difference?

  • No advice but I am sending lots of good juju your way!!

  • I have no idea if my embryo lost cells, I was just told that the thaw was successful and they only needed to thaw the one.  Mine was also a 6d blast.  How far along was your embryo for the thaw?  I didn't feel much by 4dp other than a little crampiness on 2dp and 3dp and a random hot flash mid-day on 3dp, but not everyone gets that.  GL and FX!!!

Like the others, did not lose cells and didn't feel anything. I hope you are surprised by a bfp!
