Is it all its cracked up to be? Debating on if I want to get one or not for DD.

How many months did your LO actually use it?

I loved it and so did my DD. We used it for 3 or 4 months, even after she could sit on her own for a little while because in the beginning they can only practice sitting for so long but still love to sit!

I didn't get one. But I have used one with my nanny kids and cousins kids, and I don't really care for them (especially if baby has chunky legs!)

I haven't had my baby yet, but many of the families I nannied for used and loved their bumbos. We originally registered for one, but then I read about the holes not being big enough for chunky legs. We ended up getting a Mamas & Papas Baby Snug seat which is just like a bumbo. Several of my friends have one and love it. The holes for the legs are bigger, and it has a removable insert for when the baby outgrows the smaller seat. I'd definitely recommend checking it out.

Nope. Before DS was even old enough to have the head control to use it, I sat him in it and it was too tight on his legs. We got the summer infant seat that also has a removable tray and activity center. It also has a removable insert so you can use it much much longer. DS would be bored sitting in a bumbo. Mamas and papas also makes a chair better for chubby legs, and theirs has a tray as well.

We liked it but I would say this is an EXCELLENT baby item to buy used on CL or yard sales. It's easy to clean and just totally not worth the expensive price tag for the length of time you will actually use it. If you can get a deal on it, then yes, it's worth it. Otherwise- I'd skip it.

We never used one.  Seemed like a waste to me.

I agree with the PP who mentioned buying one used, or just borrow one from a friend.  We only used ours for about 2 months, while DS #1 was learning to sit up on his own.  Not worth buying it new.

I found one at a thirft store for $3.50.  So I will be trying it out!

DD didn't care for it. I succuumbed and bought it with the tray. We got not even a months use out of it

We had it. LO hated it and would (dangerously) escape it. And yes, we did have it on the floor. That being said, we have friends that lived theirs. If you're looking for something like it, shortly after we had LO, Prince Lionhart came out with one that straps to chairs and has straps for the baby, too. We wished we'd gotten that one instead (for about the same price). It just seems safer and more useful.

i've been wondering about the bumbo too - i am going to pass on it. hopefully i'll inherit the one my SIL uses now if i really think i need it.

waste of money .... babies will sit when they are supposed to sit... feels like bumbo bends them into half to make them sit.. never had one ..never missed one

I used it with both LOs as a place to feed them before they fit well in a high chair. My babies have really skinny legs though...DS is almost 8 months and still fits.

I think it's a waste of money.  I received one when I was pregnant with my 1st.  We used it a handful of times but I didn't really care for it.

I got one for $10 at a garage sale. My kid hates it. Glad I didn't spend $50. If you want to try it, pick one up used. People sell them all the time.
