Pregnant after 35

Intro

Hi there. We just confirmed we are pregnant at 7 weeks. I'm 36 and "geriatric". My daughter is 11 and seems pretty excited. I think right now we're most worried about the risks of a late in life pregnancy. I joined to have other moms to chat with since I'm hesitant to make any birth announcements quite yet.

  • Congratulations and welcome!   I know it's easier said than done, but try not to worry too much about your age.  You're practically a young'un for this board.  :)   Best wishes to you!

  • I'll be 36 next month. So I'm a young one on here. It's hard not to worry but the good thing is there is now new noninvasive testing that they can do to check the baby out early on which helps relieve some of that stress. Congrats and good luck.

  • Congrats and welcome..I was ftm at 39 and will be 42 when I deliver:) my ob says he isn't even fazed by "older moms" anymore it's so common. He also thinks due to this, studies of older moms should be redone, they are so outdated:) ....relax and have a h&h 9 months!

  • Love this board!!! It helps to read so many possitive comments. :)
  • Congratulations!  You'll have a lot of company if you wait longer - even a lot longer - to announce in real life.  (or also if you tell soon).  If your daughter will let you wait, that is!  Hope you have a H&H 8-ish months here!

  • Congratulations!  Welcome.  Try not to worry about your age.  So much of this AMA business is blown way out of proportion.  I don't know how many times I've repeated to IRL people that having a baby at my age doesn't mean that I have a "high" probability of problems.issues; it means that I have a "higher" probability (and that probability is pretty small in most cases).  Huge difference in those statements.
