Curious, if any you have or have used an Ikea crib? I'm so overwhelmed with the prices of "baby" furniture and how small the dressers are that we're thinking of Ikea for it all so we can get full sized dressers that will still match the crib.
Ikea cribs actually get great safety and price ratings in the "Baby Bargains" book. I'm personally not opposed to one for myself - but also because I prefer a simpler aesthetic than some of the more ornate stuff out there. The crib won't last more than one child, I'm sure, but would do just fine.
I have a Graco Lauren but I have a friend who has gotten all her baby stuff (high chair, crib, etc.) from Ikea and they love it. We never had any problems with the Ikea stuff we've had, if we had one closer than a 4 hour drive we'd probably have more.
No experience with one but from what I have read in the Baby Bargains book, they are a good buy! They have to meet the safety standards to be sold so nothing to worry about there. I'd say they are good to get for some money saving.
My sister has it, and it does the job. PP is probably right, that it won't last more than one kid, but at $118(CAD), you can always buy a second one if needed!

Yup, we've only had 1 crib and it's the Ikea Gulliver- used it for DS; DD currently still using; and baby #3 will use it as well. It's been rock solid for us.

Wrong. Ours has been in continuous use for the past 4.5 years, no problems and still looks great. #3 will use it as well.

That's great news! I haven't always had long-term luck with Ikea furniture - but was seriously considering a crib from there as well. That makes me feel much more optimistic! Thanks!
My mom got one as the grandkids sleep over quite a bit and she used to watch my nephew twice a week. It was great! She got rid of it for a PnP so that she didn't have to have it up all the time after she stopped watching my nephew, but it's still going strong at her friends house for the same use
Thanks ladies! This is the last LO so if it doesn't last, I'm not real concerned. Figured we'd use a trip to Denver later this month as a semi-babymoon and hit up Ikea while we're out there.
I love my ikea crib! The design is comparable to much higher end pieces, and ours has held up 2 years and still going strong. I also trust their finishes because since ikea is sold in so many countries worldwide, they typically adhere to the standards of the strictest country they sell in. So if you're concerned about things like off-gassing of chemicals in the paints and materials, ikea is usually a good bet.
I would have gotten one if I hadn't been in love with Jenny Lind cribs since forever.
We will be buying the Ektorp Jennylund chair and converting it into a glider. We own a lot of Ikea stuff and most of it has held up well, so I'd be comfortable using a crib from there.
How do you convert it into a glider? Sounds like a great solution and just what I would be looking for.

We use an ikea crib and it has lasted through 3 babies and is about to be used for the 4th. It has also been used as a toddler bed in between babies because it can be converted. I absolutely love how it looks and it was a great buy! Another good thing about our model is that the sides are very tall and the mattress is low so my kids haven't been able to climb out of it at a young age like some of my friends' kids have done in their cribs. I can't imagine spending more on a crib when this one has been so great!
