Hi again!  So we had our nephrology appt.  The stone of concern has only moved slightly and has not grown but it is large at 6mm.  They are nervous that it could move and compromise the blood supply to the kidney, so they are going to talk to urology about a lithotripsy   .  Was Lily's lithotripsy outpatient?  I know she had a stent placed, do you think that was for the best?  I imagine it helps reduce the pain?

Sorry to hear you are headed toward surgery, @ thishappyhouse.  Lily's lithotripsy proceedures were outpatient.  The stent stayed in up till the point that they did not see any more kidney stones.  I do think it helped with pain reduction.  But, so did the tylenol   (We were advised not to use IBprofen in the first couple of days because of the risk of internal bleeding).  However, I still think she felt some discomfort.

My biggest complaint with the stent is that Lily had to be on anti-biotics while the stent was in place.  This caused her to have diarrhea, and at one point we were concerned that she had developed C-diff (an infection caused by prolonged use of anti-biotics) as she had the stent for about 4 months.

Thanks... that photo is a year old now.  Its hard to believe that the sweet face no tells me "stop it, mommy"  sighhhhh

Wow... that is a long time for the stent to be in place and to be on antibiotics!  Im glad everything worked out and that you can close that chapter now though!  

Thank you for all the info.. its really helpful to hear your experience before we head down this path.
