Baby Names

Name for the girl I might have one day

My DH and I are going to start trying for number 2 in a few months. Just like with our first we have a boys name picked out. DS is Bennett Scott and if we have another boy it will most likely be Wyatt Reid. A lot of T's I know, it isn't intentional.

For a girl I want to use Emma as a middle name for my grandma. The problem is the flow always seems better when it's in the first name spot. We love Brynn for a girl, but Brynn Emma doesn't sound as good as Emma Brynn. I like double first names though so what do you think of Emma Brynn as a double first name? I don't really want Emma as a stand alone first name because of popularity. If you do a double first name do you normally still do a middle name?

Other girls names we like are Annabelle
Madeleine
Audrey
Lucy

I don't really like Emma with any of those except for maybe Madeleine. Other middle names we would like to use are Clair, Kate and Isabelle.

Sorry for the long rambling post and TIA for any input.

  • Annabelle is darling! I love the name Emma too, but I already used it on a pet. Audrey and Lucy also get a thumbs up! Audrey Emmaline sounds nice to my ears.
  • I really like the name Emma Brynn! If you are worried about using Emma as a single name because of the popularity, just keep in mind that your daughter will likely go by just Emma regardless of if you give her a double name or not. Make sure you are OK with that. As much as lots of people on this board try to dictate what their child's NN is going to be, you never know what your child will actually choose to go by. GL!

  • I adore double names.  Emma Brynn is really cute.  Most girls I know with double names don't have an extra middle name.

Honestly I would be okay with that. As popular as the name is I have only met a few in the last few years. In that time I was a nanny, taught preschool and kindergarten and now own my own preschool/daycare. So it's not like I haven't been around kids. If we have her a double name she would have lots of options, she could go by Emma, Brynn or Emma Brynn, it wouldn't matter to me. Now call my son Ben and I will not like it, luckily no one does!

  • I love double names, and Emma Brynn is really nice. Most girls I know with a double FN don't have middle names. I like a lot of your other names, but honestly Emma Brynn is my favorite.
  • i think madeleine emma sounds nice because it has more syllables than the other first name choices. i think emma works as a mn as long as the first name has two or more syllables.
or you could use the longer, less "popular" name emmeline and call her emma.
