Sleep sacks...

Hey all,

For those who use sleep sacks, these can be used for awhile until we transition into a blanket when safe? I recently started removing DD from her sleep sack b/c I wanted her to be able to move & be comfortable in her crib. What ended up happening is she would wake up frequently at night. I put back her sleep sack last night & STTN- coincidence? :)

Re: Sleep sacks...

  • I go with not a coincidence.  Sounds like she wasn't comfortable without it.  Halo makes sleep sacks that go all the way to 5t, they have foot holes so the kids can walk in them.  Even once it is "safe" for a blanket some kids move around a lot causing the blanket to fall off which causes them to wake up.  With the sack they always have their blanket on.

  • We used a zipadeezip to transition out of the swaddle but it also works as a great wearable blanket.
  • Sleep sack or no sleep sack, my son sleeps the same.

  • Our LO is seven months, and we still use sleep sacks. He can still roll over even with them on. When he starts being able to stand/walk, we will stop using them.
  • We use a sleep sack. All naps, and every night. She doesn't sleep as well without it. She can crawl and just fine it it too.
  • My 2.5 year old still sleeps in a sleep sack. He loves it.

  • My LO is 9 1/2 months and still in a sleep sack. She can crawl in it, and stand up in it and walk around the sides of the crib in it. She gets around just fine, no stumbling or tripping. We don't have any intentions of using anything else anytime soon.

You may want to make sure you're using the right size. We moved up a size following the manufacturers guidelines, not by fit. Even though she could still fit into a small, it was too short. A medium halo sack still gives our LO a good 8-10 inches of length beyond her toes, which gives enough slack to crawl and walk.

  • We used sleep sacks until DD1 was about 18 months. We'll keep putting this LO in a sleep sack until she's uncomfortable. We are in a medium right now at 7.5 months and it's starting to get short, but these were used for DD1 also, so they are probably shrunken from many washings.

  • We just took my 2 yr old out of his but only because I'm too lazy to order the next size up, haha!

  • Halo sleep sacks are the best! We use one every night (DD is 7 months)

  • I used one with dd until she was around 15 months. Ds is now 6 month and uses them too. I just bought an Aden and Annalise heavy weight one in a size large it is long and very warm. That type of material breathes a little better than regular cotton so he stays very comfortable at night.

  • Also Merino wool sleep sacks are great for a natural alternative that can breathe and regulate the temperature well. We have a Merino and a Woolino one and love them both. Not planning on stopping to use these for at least another year or two. Baby moves around in them just fine.
